Fan Ran graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music with a master's degree in Guzheng and is currently a young teacher at the Tianjin Conservatory of Music. Born in Beijing in 1982. He started learning Guzheng at the age of four, and his enlightenment teacher was Professor Shi Zhaoyuan, a famous Guzheng educator.
In 1987, he won the first prize again in the Xicheng Chunya Cup Art Festival.
In August 1988, he won the first prize of the 4th Beijing Children's Xinghai Cup Folk Instrumental Music Competition. In September, he won the first prize of the 2nd National Children's National Instrumental Music Competition.
In 1989, he won the Silver Sail Award, the highest award for primary and secondary school students issued by the Beijing Municipal Government.
In 1991, he won the first prize in the Beijing Dongcheng District Culture and Art Festival. In July, he won the special prize in the 7th Beijing Children's Folk Instrumental Music Competition; in November, he won the instrumental music competition award at the Beijing Primary and Middle School Students Art Festival.
In July 1992, he participated in the 8th Beijing Children's National Instrumental Music Competition and won the second prize in the primary school group.
In August 1993, he won the first prize of the first National Primary and Secondary School Students' Folk Instrumental Music Solo Competition; in September, he won the first prize of the 9th Beijing Children's Folk Instrumental Music Competition; in November, he won the second Beijing Primary and Secondary School Students Art Festival Folk Music Competition first prize.
In 1994, he was admitted to the High School Attached to the China Conservatory of Music with honors. In October, the program "The People's Home in Beijing" was recorded for Beijing TV, which won the second prize in the competition.
From 1994 to 2000, he won the title of outstanding student and class cadre for six consecutive years.
In July 1996, he won the first prize in the professional group of the Traditional Zheng Song Competition of the China Guzheng Art Festival.
In March 2001, he participated in the first Longyin Cup International Observation Competition Guzheng Professional Group Excellence Award.
In March 2002, he won the bronze medal of the Youth Professional Group in the First National Folk Music Solo Competition. In December, he won the Excellence Award in the first "Tiantian Cup" People's Optimism Competition of the Central Conservatory of Music, and was awarded the Summer Redstone Scholarship. In February 2003, he became a teacher of Li Meng and Wang Zhongshan's master class.
