Introduction to Guo Ying(guzheng)Master performer

Guo Ying, a native of Chaoyang, Guangdong, is a representative of Chaozhou Zheng. Guo Ying's famous Chaozheng songs include "Jackdaw Playing in the Water" (recorded by China Records in the 1950s) and other works.

Guo Ying began to learn Chaozhou music at the age of thirteen, and learned to play the Qin Zheng at the age of sixteen. He learned the zheng major from Mr. Zhuang Yili, a teacher at a private school in the neighboring town. At the age of 21, he went to Shanghai to make a living. After entering the big stage at the age of 13 as a staff member, he was able to order a small Chaoshan-style zheng for self-exercising to resume what he had learned in the past, and participated in the amateur music life of the "New Trendy Silk and Bamboo Club" organized by Chaozhou people in Shanghai. In 1951, he officially joined the Shanghai Orchestra, serving as a full-time solo performer and a guzheng teacher at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Xiang Sihua, Fan Shang'e, Wang Changyuan, and Zhang Yan all came from Guo Ying.

Guo Ying's famous Chaozheng songs include "Jackdaw Playing in the Water" (recorded by Chinese Records in the 1950s), "Crossing the River Dragon", "A Little Gold", "Grief", "Pingsha Falling Wild Goose", "Farmhouse Music" (Guo Ying's song), etc. .
