Hu Zhihou, member of the Academic Committee of the Central Conservatory of Music, director of the National Wind Music and Percussion Teaching and Research Section, and concurrently the vice president of the National Wind Music Research Association of the Chinese Musicians Association.
character experience
The traditional Chinese musical instrument, the pipe, is called "bili" in the history of music. Songs and dances in the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Sui and Tang Dynasties once became the "head of all music". After the Northern Song Dynasty, it spread in the rural areas of northern China, survived in the folk, and had a low status. Hu Zhihou, as the last descendant of old Mr. Yang Yuanheng, a folk wind music artist, and the most proud disciple of entering the house, is in the line of survival and passed down his unique skills.
He is currently a member of the Academic Committee of the Folk Music Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, the director of the National Wind Music and Percussion Teaching and Research Section, and the vice president of the National Wind Music Research Association of the Chinese Musicians Association.
Since Hu Zhihou started teaching in 1964, he has made outstanding contributions in the teaching, performance and scientific research of Chinese national musical instruments, Guanzi, and has made a wide range of influences both domestically and internationally.

In the work of excavating and sorting out the heritage of the National Music Park, Hu Zhihou's works of "Beijing Zhihua Temple Beijing Music" (Buddhist Music) and "Shanxi Hengshan Sheng and Wind Music" (Taoist Music) have made a great impact in China:
"Beijing Zhihua Temple Beijing Music" is one of the four ancient music in my country. It was handed down for 26 generations in 1446 and died out in the 1950s. Hu Zhihou and his colleagues spent three years learning from the monks, and brought back to life the so-called "living fossil" of Chinese music. They went to European countries, Singapore and Taiwan to perform, which caused great repercussions at home and abroad, and was recorded by the Taiwan New Elephant Cultural and Educational Foundation. , Publish CD records, and the national instrumental music collection "Beijing Volume" will publish the score;
"Shanxi Hengshan Sheng and Wind Music" is rarely known due to various reasons, but the ancient music that has been preserved through 15 generations of descendants has a historical character. Among them, "Various Nameless" and "Movement" sets were recorded and published by JVC and Guangdong Pearl River Audio and Video Company.
outstanding performance
Hu Zhihou's contribution to the art of guanzi performance is to expand the guanzi from the folk status to the surface level of academies and art exhibitions. ; Guanzi music works such as "Drunken Man's Cao", "Goose Falling Beach", "Three Stacks of Yangguan", "Eighteen Beats of Hu Jia" and "Birds Cry at Night", which he co-authored and composed with the composer, have become the most popular music in the concert. The repertoire expands and enriches the artistic expression of the tube. The art of guanzi performance has entered the stage of modern concerts from a folk amateur state, for which he has paid unbelievable hard and creative labor. Huang Xiangpeng, a national music theorist and former director of the China Music Research Institute, wrote in an article that he is "a person who can promote the new development of traditional music like Liu Tianhua in the May Fourth New Culture Movement or Michio Miyagi in Japan's Meiji and Taisho eras. A musician." On the one hand, Hu Zhihou digs deeply and inherits traditional repertoires and techniques, and on the other hand, he deliberately creates new things according to the needs of the times. During this period, he is compatible with both China and the West while adhering to the traditional thinking, seeking to carry forward the music culture of Guanzi, which has made a new breakthrough in the ancient art of musical instrument performance.
