Huang Jianwei, a famous guzheng performer, music educator, head and artistic director of the Macao Youth Guzheng Art Troupe.
Born in Hong Kong. He studied erhu by himself when he was a child, and was admitted to the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra in 1978. He later studied with erhu master Huang Anyuan. He also received guidance from famous masters such as Wang Guotong, Li Xiuqi, and Rao Ningxin in the mainland.
He has been invited to perform in Taiwan several times, and was invited by Tokyo University of the Arts to hold demonstration lectures and recitals in Japan. He has also performed around the world with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. Huang Jianwei is proficient in Huqin, Guzheng, Liuqin, Zhongruan, Yangqin and other instruments. In addition to teaching, he also conducts several Chinese music groups and is the founder of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. In 1985, he was invited to Macao to set up a training course. In 1987, he was employed as the music director and conductor of the Macao Chinese Orchestra under the Macao Cultural Institute, leading the orchestra to perform in Portugal, Taiwan and other places many times. Individuals are employed by the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra and the Guangzhou Chinese Orchestra as a permanent guest conductor and a part-time teacher at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In 1989, he was invited to be a judge in the "China Musical Instrument International Competition" in Beijing. In 1998, he was the conductor of the Macao Chinese Orchestra at the Portuguese farewell party for the handover of the Macau regime and the celebration of the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region, and was awarded the Medal of Cultural Merit by Macau.
