Huang Yijun's ancestral home is Liuyang, Hunan, and he was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu. Graduated from Suzhou Middle School in 1933. In 1934, he was a performer in the Chinese Band of the Shanghai EMI Record Company. He composed music such as "Blossoms and a Full Moon", and provided the soundtrack for the movie "Chicken Feather Letter" and the play "Guan Hanqing".
Huang Yijun is the first-generation symphony conductor in China and one of the pioneers and founders of the Chinese symphony career.
Mr. Huang's artistic attainments in music are not limited to conducting. As a performer, he is very proficient in many instruments and has very high playing skills. In addition, he also made considerable contributions in composing, mainly in the film music before and after the founding of the People's Republic of China, including "The Crow and the Sparrow", "Spring in a Small Town", "The Legend of Wu Xun", and "Chicken Feather Letter".
