Jiang Cairu was born in Chengdu and is one of the most accomplished erhu performers. He was also called "North Jiang Nanmin" back then. He has a wide range of talents, is skilled in playing skills, and is of high quality.
He is a famous erhu performer in the Zhanqi Art Troupe, a national first-class actor, winner of the "Golden Disc Award", and enjoys special government allowances from the State Council. He used to be the chief erhu of the China Peking Opera Company, and the deputy head of the Chengdu Military Region's War Flag Song and Dance Troupe. He is currently the vice president of the Erhu Society of the China Music Association, the executive director of the China National Orchestra Society, the vice chairman of the Sichuan Musicians Association, and the president of the Sichuan Erhu Society. Jiang Cairu was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music Attached Middle School in 1960, majoring in Erhu. In 1963, he was recommended to the Folk Music Department of the Central Conservatory of Music. In 1968, he graduated from the China Conservatory of Music with honors. He successively studied under Jiang Fengzhi, Zhang Shao, Nie Jingyu, Wang Guotong and other professors.
When Jiang Cairu was in his second year of college, the erhu song "Beijing Has a Golden Sun" composed and performed was popular all over the country. After that, other works such as "Remembering Relatives", "Happy Yi Village", "Military and Civil Songs", "Spring in Liangshan", "Chuanjiang Boat Song", "Green Bamboo Songs" and the Erhu Concerto "White Snake Resentment" were successively published.
Jiang Cairu is also a prolific erhu composer. Some of his works have been included in the teaching materials of higher art colleges, and some of his works have been included in the "Encyclopedia of Chinese Music Erhu Volume".
