Li Guixin was born in Weifang City, Shandong Province in 1954. At the age of seven, he learned musical notation from a neighbor music teacher. At the age of 13, he learned pipa with his enlightenment teacher Zhou Chunxin. In 1974, he was recommended to the Folk Music Department of Xi'an Conservatory of Music to study Pipa. He studied under Professor Ren Hongxiang, a pipa performer, educator and composer. Later, he was taught by Li Wuhua, Chang Shupeng and other famous pipa masters. After graduating in 1978, he successively worked as a music teacher at Donghai Middle School in Jidong County, counselor at Jidong County Cultural Center, business team leader of Jidong County Cultural Bureau, cultural section chief of Jixi City Cultural Bureau, and member of Jixi City Federation of Literary and Art Circles. The chairman of the Performer's Association, he has been engaged in cultural and artistic work for a long time.
