He used to play a variety of stringed instruments, and then gave up his previous studies to concentrate on the piano. In the early 1970s, Liu followed the Hong Kong violinist Ms. Cai Deyun to learn the violin, and has been influenced by her moral cultivation for more than 20 years. In the 1980s, she traveled to the mainland and visited famous artists. She was successively instructed by the late Mr. Zhang Ziqian and Mr. Yao Bingyan of Zhejiang School.
