He was the first to use the modern notation method to record "Mei Lanfang Music Score", and made great contributions to the collection and arrangement of folk music. Liu Tianhua and his brother Liu Bannong (a famous writer) and his younger brother Liu Beimao (a famous musician) are known as the "Three Heroes of the Liu Family" in the history of modern Chinese literature.
