Liu Yalan, a young erhu performer, an erhu teacher in the Folk Music Department of the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, an executive director of the Sichuan Erhu Society, a member of the ISME International Music Education Association, and the heir to the Shu School of Erhu.
Liu Yalan was born into a musical family, and since childhood, she followed her grandfather, the famous Chinese erhu educator, performer and composer Professor Duan Qicheng to learn the piano.
In 1997, he was admitted to the High School Affiliated to Sichuan Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of Professor Xiao Qianyong.
In 2003, he was admitted to the China Conservatory of Music and studied under the famous performer and educator Professor Zhang Zunlian. During the school, he won the National Merit Scholarship for two consecutive years.
In 2007, he was awarded the title of "Excellent Talent for Supporting the Development of the Western Regions" by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
In 2012, he obtained a master's degree in erhu performance.
In 2015, he led his students to South Korea to exchange performances with the National Folk Orchestra.
In 2014, he led the students to study at the Dulusseldorf Conservatory of Music in Germany and the National Conservatory of Music in France.
In 2013, he led students to perform and give lectures at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.
