Luo Xiaoci, born in 1974, is a zheng soloist of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, a national first-class performer, and a former deputy head of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra. He is currently the vice chairman of the Shanghai Musicians Association, the head of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, a member of the Shanghai Musicians Association, the executive director of the Guzheng Professional Committee of the Shanghai Musicians Association, and the vice chairman of the Shanghai Youth Literature and Art Federation.
On the basis of inheriting the tradition, she broke the mode of single performance, and tried to present the rich connotation of the zheng by using a variety of artistic means. Luo Xiaoci studied zheng under the guidance of her father Luo Dingwu when she was seven years old, and three years later she studied under Deng Jie and Yan Aihua of Nanjing University of the Arts. At the age of thirteen, he was admitted to the High School Attached to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Six years later, he was directly admitted to the Department of Ethnic Music of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music with excellent grades. In the past ten years, he has successively studied with zheng educators and performers Guo Xuejun, He Baoquan and Sun Wenyan. In 1998 and 1999, she premiered the guzheng concerto "Lin Chong Night Run" and "The Overlord of Western Chu" respectively, which were successful.
