Qiao Zhichen is a Chinese silk and bamboo musician. He studied under the performer Liu Guanle, and later cultivated cucurbit flute artistic talents, making great contributions to Chinese silk and bamboo music.
Teacher Qiao Zhichen was born in Tianjin in 1939. Since 1956, he has studied with Mr. Liu Guanle, a famous flute player in my country. In 1958, he was admitted to the Tianjin Song and Dance Theater. He has worked with Mr. Liu Guanle for nearly 30 years. The main inheritor of Mr. Wind Music, Mr. Qiao Zhichen, through stage performances, teaching, writing articles, and recording audio and video, spread Mr. Liu's unique style, genre and representative flute works.
In the middle of the 20th century, the conditions for stage performances and recording equipment were still very backward, and many of Mr. Liu Guanle's excellent works failed to leave audio-visual materials. The four of them jointly completed the recording work of Mr. Liu Guanle's twelve key works, and released "Liu Guanle Dizi Songs", which is a precious recording material of the popular Liu Dizi genre for future reference.
Teacher Qiao Zhichen is the premiere and disseminator of "Tatar Dance Music".
Mr. Li Chongwang, a writer of Tianjin Song and Dance Theatre, lived in the same dormitory with Mr. Qiao Zhichen. Many of the flute solo pieces created by Mr. Li were often auditioned by Mr. Qiao Zhichen. During the four-month tour of Tianjin Song and Dance Theater in more than ten provinces and cities in the south from the end of 1959 to the beginning of 1960, Mr. Qiao Zhichen premiered the "Tatar Dance", and performed more than 100 times in a row. The record company selected and recorded the album "Tatar Dance", which is still the original work played by Mr. Qiao Zhichen when he was 20 years old.
Now, Mr. Qiao Zhichen has adapted this "Tatar Nationality Dance" for the flute solo into a cucurbit solo, which can still achieve a good performance.
