Qiu Dacheng

Qiu Dacheng (1945.1.29-1997.12.7), a native of Yibin, Sichuan. China's first guzheng master, Chinese guzheng performer and music educator. He was a professor of music and deputy director of the Department of Instrumental Music at the China Conservatory of Music during his lifetime.
In 1984, together with Mr. Cao Zheng, he founded the Children's Guzheng Preschool Class in Beijing No. 6 Kindergarten.
In 1985, he and Mr. Wang Shihuang established a children's guzheng teaching class at the China Children's Activity Center. Since then, he has been adhering to amateur guzheng teaching in the Children's Center, and has trained more than 100 students. He has won the first, second and third prizes for collective and individual solo performances in the previous (1987-1993) Beijing Children's Instrumental Music Competitions. Some of them became the backbone of music in primary and secondary schools, and some students were admitted to the primary or secondary schools attached to the China Conservatory of Music and the Central Conservatory of Music.
During his long-term work and teaching at the China Conservatory of Music, Mr. Qiu Dacheng has been conscientious, strictly grasping the quality of teaching, and has cultivated a large number of outstanding guzheng players. More than ten students have won prizes in important competitions at home and abroad. At the same time, it has also trained many foreign students, many of whom won awards in the "a.r.t Cup International Folk Music Competition". And many people won the first, second and third prizes in the "Fulitong Cup International Folk Music Competition" and the "Oriental Cup" Guzheng Competition (sponsored by the Ministry of Culture).
