Qu Yun, a native of Pingdu, Shandong, is currently a professor at the School of Art of Shaanxi Normal University, a guzheng master tutor, a director of the Beijing Guzheng Research Association, a director of the Oriental Guzheng Research Association, and an executive director of the Shaanxi Branch of the Chinese Musicians Association.
Since 1959, he has been admitted to the High School Affiliated to Xi'an Conservatory of Music and has studied Guzheng under the tutelage of Zhou Yanjia and Gao Zicheng.
In 1965, he studied pipa under the tutelage of Mr. Zhang Dihua at the same time. After graduation, he worked in the Shaanxi Folk Art Troupe and studied folk music in depth, and received the guidance of famous scholars Cao Zheng and Mr. Li Shigen for a long time. Research has laid a solid foundation.
Qu Yun once performed a zheng solo with the Imitation Tang Music and Dance Troupe and traveled all over China. The zheng piece "Fragrant Mountain Shooting Drum" she composed and performed won the Outstanding Work Award of the 6th Asian Music Forum and the National National Instrumental Music "Shancheng Cup" Competition.
"Xiangshan Shooting Drum" is well-known in domestic and foreign music circles, and has been published in various editions. The album has been made into an album by overseas record companies, which has far-reaching influence in performances and academic exchanges at home and abroad, and has won great praise.
