Rao Ningxin, male, Guzheng master of the Southern School of China, born in Dapu, Guangdong in 1941, Hakka people. Guzheng performer and educator, known as a descendant of Chinese music masters and an innovator of Cantonese music. His father was Rao Congju, a famous Han music master in Guangdong. Rao Ningxin was enlightened by his father since he was a child, and learned to play dulcimer, guzheng, Han music and other musical instruments with his father. In 1956, he went to Beijing to perform and was received by the chairman and the prime minister. In 1965, he graduated from Guangzhou Music College. He has successively studied with Su Wenxian, a zither master of Chao Yue, and Luo Jiuxiang, a zheng master of Han music. He also received the guidance of masters Cao Zheng, Zhao Yuzhai and Liu Tianyi.


He has been teaching for more than 40 years, and his disciples are all over the country and the United States, Canada, Japan and Southeast Asia. Many people have won awards in various music competitions. In addition to professional teaching, he is often invited to perform all over the country and overseas, and participates in various academic exchange activities. He has compiled a large number of Chinese music and Cantonese music zheng music teaching materials, and has made important contributions to popularizing and promoting the cause of national music. The book "Introduction to Guzheng" compiled in 1988 has been printed many times and sold well at home and abroad, benefiting the majority of zheng practitioners.

In 1997, he was invited to visit Macau to perform. In 2002, he was invited to participate in the "Guzheng Masters Concert" held by the Guangzhou School in Hong Kong. In the same year, he participated in the "Guzheng Masters Concert" at the 4th International Art Festival in Shanghai in 2002. In addition, he is often invited to perform in various large-scale concerts in various provinces and cities and serve as a judge for various music competitions. He presided over guzheng programs for many domestic radio stations, TV stations, and Hong Kong TV stations, and held special lectures on Chinese music and Cantonese music. It has made important contributions to the promotion and development of the cause of national music. His name was included in the album of famous people in "The Essence of National Music", which has a considerable influence at home and abroad.
