Wang Jianmin, composer, native of Wuxi, Jiangsu. Member of the Chinese Musicians Association, member of the National Music Committee of the Chinese Music Association, deputy director of the Theoretical Creation Committee of the Chinese National Orchestra Association, and vice chairman of the International Art Education Federation. He is currently the executive vice president and professor of the High School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
He has served as a visiting professor of Nanjing University and the dean of the School of Music of Nanjing University of the Arts. Since his professional career, he has composed a large number of musical works of various themes. In particular, he has made great achievements in the field of national instrumental music creation.
In 1988, with the work "The First Erhu Rhapsody", he won the second prize of the 6th National Music Works Award. In 1989, with the work "Four Seasons Glimpse", he won the Excellence Award in the first national music and art college clarinet works selection. In 1995, he won the Outstanding Work Award in the 1995 Guzheng Competition of the Ministry of Culture for his work "Fantasia".
In 1998, Taipei Fengchao Company published a personal album "Wang Jianmin's Guzheng Songs"; in the same year, he composed "Fantasy Ballade", which was premiered at the Sendai International Music Festival in Japan with the permission of Japanese conductor Yuzo Soyama and erhu players. In 1999, with the work "Fantasy Ballade", he won the Gold Award for Music Creation at the 4th Jiangsu Music and Dance Festival.
In 2000, the work "The First Erhu Rhapsody" was designated as the designated piece of the 8th Taipei National Instrumental Erhu Competition. In 2001, he won the bronze medal in the first "Golden Bell Award" Symphony Work Competition in China with his work "Tianshan Style".
In 2002, the work "The First Erhu Rhapsody" was designated as the designated piece of the Erhu Professional Group in the First National Folk Instrumental Solo Competition of the Ministry of Culture; Award" Chamber Music Competition Bronze Award.
In 2003, with the work "The Second Erhu Rhapsody", he won the Silver Award of the Third Golden Bell Award in China. In 2006, with the work "The Third Erhu Rhapsody", he won the first prize of the 12th National Music Works Award; in the same year, the Shanghai Education Press published a collection of personal works "Wang Jianmin Erhu Music Selection".
In 2009, he won the Outstanding Work Award at the 2nd National College Student Art Exhibition for his work "A Lili". In 2010, a special collection of personal works "Wang Jianmin Wang Jianmin's Nine Songs on Guzheng" was published by Hong Kong Boyun Company. In 2011, he won the first prize of the 15th National Music Works Award for his work "The Fourth Erhu Rhapsody".
He has published many works in publications such as "Music Creation", and recorded and published dozens of CD albums at home and abroad. His major works are widely included in various editions of CDs, DVDs and textbooks in music schools. He has published more than ten academic papers on teaching and research, and most of the students he has trained have become the backbone of art colleges and literary and art troupes. Published collections of personal works include: "Selected Songs of Wang Jianmin's Guzheng Songs" (Taipei Fengchao Company, 1998), "Selected Songs of Wang Jianmin's Erhu" (Shanghai Education Press, 2006). "Nine Songs of Wang Jianmin's Guzheng Composition" (Hong Kong Boyun Company, 2010). In addition, he has also served as a judge for various competitions such as the Golden Bell Award, the Wenhua Art School Award, and the CCTV Folk Music Competition.
In September 2021, he was elected as the vice president of the seventh council of the Chinese National Orchestra Society.
