Wang Long, a native of Jinan, Shandong, studied dulcimer with his father Wang Zhenqi at the age of seven, and later studied with Liu Dengsen and Zheng Baoheng. In 1987, he was admitted to the High School Affiliated to China Conservatory of Music, and received careful guidance from Mr. Ren Bojie in 6 years.
In 1993, he was admitted to the Folk Music Department of the Central Conservatory of Music with honors, under the tutelage of Professor Gui Xili. Minor in Guqin, under the tutelage of Professor Li Xiangting.
Graduated in 1997, in the same year, he joined the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra as a dulcimer player, and at the same time studied with the famous Guqin master Gong Yi.
In 2000, he performed with the famous erhu performer Min Huifen at the Lincoln Center in the United States and achieved success. In the same year, he visited Los Angeles, Dallas, New York, Houston and other cities, and won the "Excellent Qin Art" award from the Chinese Chinese Music Society of Dallas and the East Asian Studies Department of the University of South America (SMU); The "Music Art and Overseas Chinese Cultural Exchange Promotion" Award issued by the Chinese National Orchestra.
In his artistic career for many years, Wang Long has formed a style of performance that is simple but not impetuous and exaggerated, quiet but not distorted and devoted. Her performance is rich and expressive, and her basic skills are solid. The timbre is pure and clear, accurate and delicate, with an excellent sense of music and a keen response, and has a very high comprehension of different music.
At the end of 2000, he released his personal dulcimer solo album "Thinking". The CD collects a number of excellent traditional repertoires, new works and arrangements of foreign music. Wang Long adheres to the tradition but never obscures the ancients in his performance practice, and successfully interprets a batch of newly composed dulcimer pieces and foreign works transplanted from different styles.
In 2003, he recorded his second solo album "Roland Love", the first recording of the dulcimer concerto "Roland Love" by the famous composer He Zhanhao. The album also includes a number of new works and arrangements of foreign music.
