Wang Wenli was born in Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, and loved music since he was a child. He joined the "Nanjing Xiaohonghua Art Troupe" at the age of seven and began to perform on stage; at the age of eight he began to learn dulcimer. In the middle of the year, he performed nearly 1,000 times with the troupe, and visited Romania with the "Nanjing Xiaohonghua Art Troupe". The main works include "Tianshan Poems and Paintings" and so on.
Graduated from Nanjing University of the Arts in 1984 and stayed there to teach, and successfully held a solo graduation recital.
In 1985, he won the dulcimer accompaniment award in the first "Jiangsu Youth Erhu Competition".
In April 1986, he went to the United States with the Shenzhen Art Troupe to visit and perform. He was well received and was awarded the "Honorary Citizen of Houston" certificate by the mayor of Houston. In August of the same year, he recorded a dulcimer solo album "Spring to Qingjiang" for the Hong Kong Hugo Recording Production Company.
In 1991, he was transferred to the Guangzhou Military Region Warrior Song and Dance Troupe as a solo performer.
In July 1993, he was invited to Japan to participate in the "1993 Asian Fantasy" performance, which was a great success. In October of the same year, he participated in the "National Folk Instrumental Music Nanjing Invitational Competition" sponsored by the Chinese Musicians Association and other units, and won the first prize in the dulcimer professional group.
In 1998, he was transferred to Guangzhou Xinghai Conservatory of Music to teach.
In March 1999, he was invited as a dulcimer solo guest to perform the "Pluck Music Concert" with the "Hong Kong City Chinese Orchestra" and Mr. He Zhanhao. In the g month of the same year, the "Wang Wenli Yangqin and Percussion Concert" was successfully held at the Macao Cultural and Art Center.
In September 2000, he was invited to be the judge of the "2000. Pearl River Piano Cup' Dulcimer Making Competition".
In July 2001, he was invited to go to Southeastern Oklahoma State University and North German University to perform exchange visits with the musicians group of Xinghai Conservatory of Music.
In May 2002, he was invited to participate in the "2002cloFF International Folk Art Festival" and "2002 Korea-Japan World Cup" series of performances held in South Korea. In December of the same year, he was invited by the National Arts Council of Singapore to serve as a judge for the "2002 National Chinese Music Competition" in Singapore. In addition to being active on performance stages at home and abroad for a long time, he is also often engaged in audio and video recording of music, holding academic lectures, etc., and is committed to the promotion and development of dulcimer art.
From 2003 to 2004, he went to Japan many times to hold concerts with Mr. Xu, the erhu soloist in the United States.
In July 2003, his second solo album - "Tianshan Poetry and Painting" was published by Nanjing Audio-Visual Publishing House.
