Wang Yi (1919-2002), born in Wuxian County, Jiangsu Province, formerly known as Wang Guanya, no. Zuwei. Pseudonym: Che Ming, Wang Yi, Tianci. Erhu player, composer, educator. In 1984, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music awarded him a 40-year teaching honorary certificate and a silver medal.
Wang Yi was admitted to the rural normal school in Wu County, Jiangsu Province in 1932. After graduating in 1937, he taught in Wuxian middle and primary schools. In 1946, he taught at Shanghai Jingye Middle School. In 1956, he was transferred to the Department of Folk Music of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music to teach. In 1957, he was transferred to the director of the Folk Music Department of the High School Attached to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In 1978, he was transferred to the deputy director of the Folk Music Department of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In 1984, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music awarded him a 40-year teaching honorary certificate and a silver medal.
In January 1949, he joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and worked in literature and art in the Fuyang Military District Art Troupe, the Anhui Military District Art Troupe, and the Nanjing Military District Frontline Song and Dance Troupe. In May 1956, he transferred to the Huangmei Theatre Troupe of Anhui Province, where he was engaged in acting, directing, screenwriting, deputy head of the creative team, and director of the second troupe's art committee. Retired in November 1989. In 1950, he graduated from the Department of Mathematics of Anhui Normal University (formerly National Anhui University), and in 1965, he graduated from the Shanghai Theater Academy's opera director training class. Member of Dramatists Association, Vice Chairman of Anhui Film Association, member of Anhui TV Artists Association.
