Wu Zuqiang (July 24, 1927 - March 14, 2022), born in Beijing, was a Chinese composer and music educator, former president of the Central Conservatory of Music, and honorary member of the 10th China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

In elementary and middle school, Wu Zuqiang was determined to learn music under the influence of musicians Sheng Jialun and Zhang Dinghe. He studied under Jiang Dingxian in the Theoretical Composition Department of Nanjing National Conservatory of Music. After graduating from the Central Conservatory of Music, he went to study in the Soviet Union. After graduating in 1958, he returned to China to teach at the Composition Department of the Central Conservatory of Music. As a representative of Chinese musicians, he visited the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, Czechoslovakia, Japan and other countries, and served as a judge for many international music competitions. In 1979, he was elected as the executive director of the Chinese Musicians Association. Since 1985, he has been the vice-chairman of the Chinese Musicians Association.

Wu Zuqiang composed various genres and forms of musical works such as orchestral music, concerto, dance drama, cantata, chamber music, solo, etc. Among them, the more important ones are: string quartet, symphonic sound painting "On the Land of the Motherland", oratorio " Fighting with the Flood", as well as the music of the dance dramas "The Mermaid" and "The Red Detachment of Women" with Du Mingxin, and the concerto "Little Sisters on the Prairie" with Liu Dehai, etc. In addition, he has adapted the famous traditional pieces "Erquan Reflecting the Moon" and "Listening to the Pine" into a string ensemble piece, "Jianhe Shui" into an erhu and orchestra ensemble, and "Spring River Flower Moon Night" into a pipa and an orchestral piece The team concerto is very popular with the audience. Wu Zuqiang's creative style is rigorous, and he is good at developing musical thoughts from the laws of music art. While absorbing the excellent traditions of Western European and Russian classical music composition techniques, he conducts useful explorations on national styles and national characteristics, and strives to combine these two aspects organically. Combining them to create a national style of music.
