Yi Jiayi is a native of Leshan, Sichuan, a famous flute player, educator, professor and master tutor of Sichuan Conservatory of Music; former director of the Folk Music Department of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, head of the Chinese Orchestra, vice president of China Bamboo Flute Society, Sichuan Bamboo Flute Society President, visiting professor of China Conservatory of Music; jury member of CCTV National Instrumental Music Competition in 2009, jury member of the 7th China Music Golden Bell Award, and jury member of the 2012 National Instrumental Music Competition sponsored by the Ministry of Culture.
Professor Yi Jiayi has won the third prize of Sichuan Higher Education Achievement Award, the title of teaching teacher of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, and the Outstanding Gardener Award of the Ministry of Culture in 2012. In recent years, several CDs and DVDs such as "Autumn Fruit", "Eagle's Love" and "Flute Sound" have been published.
Published "Essence, Qi and Spirit in Wind Music", "New Voice of Flute Source - Music Reform, Creation and Performance", "My Views on the Establishment of National Orchestra", "Review and Prospect of Chinese Bamboo Flute Teaching in the 20th Century", etc. Several papers; also published "Dizi Playing Techniques", "Chinese Dizi Playing Standard Repertoire", "Hulusi and Bawu Performance Standard Repertoire", "Chinese Bamboo Flute Playing Guide", "Chinese Dizi Classics and Famous Songs", "Basic Principles of Ten-hole Bamboo Flute" and Tutorial" and many other monographs.
At the age of 9, he began to learn bamboo flute by himself. In 1972, he was admitted to the Leshan City Art Troupe. In 1977, he was admitted to the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, where he studied under Professor Zhang Baoqing and Wang Qishu. He graduated with honors in 1982 and stayed at the school to teach. Later, he went to Zhejiang Art School to study with Zhao Songting, a flute educator, for a short period of time and benefited from it for life. In 1983, the flute and band "Ashima Narrative Poem" co-created and played with Yi Ke and Zhang Baoqing won the second prize of the third national music composition creation award. Over the past 30 years, she has cultivated a large number of professional flute teaching and performance talents. Dozens of students have won awards in major international and domestic competitions. Among them, Chen Ran won the "Wenhua Award", the highest national award of the Chinese Ministry of Culture. Yi Jiayi has won the third prize of Sichuan Higher Education Achievement Award, the title of Teaching Famous Teacher of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, the Outstanding Teacher Award of the International Chinese Instrumental Music Competition in 2011, and the Outstanding Gardener Award of the Ministry of Culture in 2012. In the early years, he recorded dozens of films and TV dramas; performed hundreds of concerts; and published dozens of folk instrumental pieces that he composed and adapted, such as the saxophone quartets such as "Beautiful Flowers" and "Good Days", produced by Sichuan Music Performed by the College Mainland Saxophone Quartet, published by China Literature and Art Audio and Video Publishing House in 2003. Dozens of CDs and DVDs such as "Autumn Fruit", "Eagle's Love" and "Flute Sound" have been published.
In December 2007, invited by Mr. Lin Guzhen, the leader of the Taiwan Qinyuan Chinese Orchestra, he successfully held a special flute solo concert in the Taiwan National Concert Hall of the famous Chinese bamboo flute series 18 "Chuanjiang Flute Rhymes with Huangshan Love". Chuanyin Chinese Orchestra was in the National Centre for the Performing Arts, and participated in the "Spring Flowers and Autumn Reality - Art College Stage Art Exhibition Week" hosted by the Ministry of Culture. In May, he was invited to perform at the opening ceremony of the 9th Golden Bell Award at the Guangzhou Grand Theater. In May 2014, he was invited to perform at the inaugural concert of the Bamboo Flute Society held by the Chinese Musicians Association at the Sennheiser Shanghai Concert Hall. Yi Jiayi has also performed and lectured in more than 20 countries and regions around the world on behalf of the Sichuan Conservatory of Music.
Over the years, he has published "Essence, Qi and Spirit in Wind Music", "Cultural Examination of Several Issues in the Basic Theory of Music", "New Voice of Diyuan - Music Reform, Creation and Performance", "My Views on the Establishment of National Orchestras" "Review and Prospect of Chinese Bamboo Flute Teaching in the Twentieth Century" and several other papers; also published "Dizi Playing Techniques", "Chinese Dizi Playing Standard Repertoire", "Hulusi and Bawu Playing Standard Repertoire", and "Chinese Bamboo Flute Playing Guide" He has written many monographs such as "Selected Classics of Chinese Dizi" and "Basic Principles and Tutorials of Ten-hole Bamboo Flute".
