Introduction to Yu Bosun(guqin)Master performer

Yu Bosun (1922-2013.04.17), male, born in Chengdu, Sichuan, China, is a guqin performer and a representative inheritor of the Shu-style guqin, an intangible cultural heritage project. At the same time good at dulcimer, erhu, flute, Xiao and other musical instruments. At the age of 12, he entered the "Oriental Drama School" to study opera. At the age of 14, he began to learn Guqin, under the tutelage of Chen Yunru and Longqinfang of the Sichuan School. When he was middle-aged, he visited domestic and foreign qin masters such as Cha Fuxi, Wu Jinglue, Pu Xuezhai, etc., and learned from others.

In 1948, he had an elegant gathering with Qi Baishi, a master of traditional Chinese painting, in Chongqing. In 1983, he started to compose the first qin song "Moon Song of Mount Emei". In 1985, he founded the Dongpo Poetry Society, dedicated to cultivating the heirs of the Sichuan-style guqin. In 2006, the Chengdu Yu Bosun Shu School Guqin Research Institute was established. In the same year, the Chinese National Orchestra Society awarded Yu Bosun the "Lifetime Achievement Award in Chinese Folk Music". In 2006, the Chinese National Orchestra Society awarded Yu Bosun the "Lifetime Contribution Award to Chinese Folk Music Art". At 20:40 on April 17, 2013, Comrade Yu Bosun passed away in Chengdu, China at the age of 92.

Yu Bosun entered the "Oriental Drama School" at the age of twelve to study opera, and began to learn Guqin at the age of fourteen, under the tutelage of Chen Yunru and Longqinfang of the Sichuan School. When he was middle-aged, he visited many domestic and foreign qin masters, such as Cha Fuxi, Wu Jinglue, Pu Xuezhai, etc., to enrich his artistic life by learning from others.

From 1942 to 1945, he co-founded the "Ancient Chinese Music Club" with his father, Chinese painter and educator Yu Zidan, and composed and performed the sanxian solo "Yue Fei vs. Zhuxian Town", which greatly inspired the people to expel the Japanese invaders. Patriotic passion. He not only plays the piano, but is also good at dulcimer, erhu, flute, Xiao and other instruments. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he participated in the "Datong National Music Society" in Chongqing, performing with musicians such as Peng Xiuwen and Yang Jingming.

In 1948, he had an elegant gathering with Qi Baishi, a master of traditional Chinese painting, in Chongqing. In 1983, he started to compose the first qin song "Moon Song of Mount Emei". Zhong Sing Chengdu Company produced a special tape and released it called "Moon Song of Mount Emei", which was sung by Mr. Yu's disciple Wang Shuyi.

In 1985, he founded the Dongpo Poetry Society, dedicated to cultivating the heirs of the Sichuan-style guqin. In 2006, the Chengdu Yu Bosun Shu School Guqin Research Institute was established to better study Guqin.
