Zhang Zhiliang joined the literary work in April 1957. In December 1975, he became a teacher at the Central Conservatory of Music. In January 1981, he was transferred to the China Conservatory of Music to teach the sheng major, and was the first sheng teacher of the China Conservatory of Music. Zhang Zhiliang's sheng performance inherits and carries forward the tradition of national musical instruments, and absorbs the specialties of other musical instruments, gradually forming his unique playing style: the performance is delicate and moving, the skills are rich; the music image is vivid and touching; He has also made contributions to the innovation of sheng performance techniques: such as double spit with large intervals, and fast spit with different textures. Zhang Zhiliang's excellent performance was well received by audiences at home and abroad, and was praised as a "super-class performer". He has performed in Germany, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong many times.
Zhang Zhiliang compiled a complete set of Sheng textbooks. It is scientific, systematic and complete. In teaching, we pay attention to the development of students' specialties and teach students in accordance with their aptitude, which has cultivated outstanding music performance talents and professional teachers in music schools for the country. Excellent teaching achievements won the "4th District Yongxi Outstanding Music Education Award" issued by the Chinese Ministry of Culture in December 2002.
Zhang Zhiliang has been studying composition at the Central Conservatory of Music for six years since 1979. The composition skills are profound, the style is elegant, the structure is rigorous, and the styles are diverse. There are both euphemistic and turbulent inner-confidence music, as well as magnificent movement. Greatly expresses the author's perception of life and life. Zhang Zhiliang held the "Zhang Zhiliang Sheng Works Concert".
