Zhao Chengwei, a sanxian player. In 1974, he was admitted to the High School Affiliated to the Central Conservatory of Music and began to learn Sanxian performance under the tutelage of Sanxian performer and educator Professor Xiao Jiansheng.


In 1979, he was promoted to the Bachelor of Folk Music Department of the Central Conservatory of Music.

In 1980, he transferred to the China Conservatory of Music to continue his studies under Professor Xiao Jiansheng.

Graduated in 1983 and stayed at the school to teach.

In 1998, in order to promote the development of Sanxian's art career and cultivate the reserve talents of Sanxian's art, he and Professor Xiao Jiansheng jointly initiated the establishment of "Free Amateur Sanxian Primary School Class of China Conservatory of Music".

Since 2002, he has participated in the research project of "Chinese National Folk Music Library" (ie "1" Action Plan) chaired by Professor Liu Dehai. He went to Shantou, Guangdong and Quanzhou, Fujian to collect folk music for many times, and assisted Professor Liu Dehai in collecting and sorting out a lot of folk music materials. He successfully held the "Chaozhou Music Concert" and "Quanzhou Nanyin Special Concert" in 2002 and 2004 respectively. ". The project also won the second prize of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission's Science and Technology Project and the first prize of the China Conservatory of Music Research Award.

In 2005, he and Professor Xiao Jiansheng jointly applied for the Beijing Municipal Education Commission's science and technology project "Research and Experiment on Chinese National Musical Instrument Substitute Python Skin", which was approved and was in the experiment.

In the same year, he initiated and organized the "National Sanxian Art Symposium" hosted by the China Conservatory of Music. During the period, a "Sanxian Special Concert of China Conservatory of Music" was also held with strong response.
