Zhou Chenglong was born in Shanghai in 1946. In the art of composition, he persistently pursues a novel and rigorous style, and strives to be creative in composition techniques, in order to reveal a new look of the breadth and depth of Chinese folk music, forming his own unique style, which is very rich in China The charm of music is one of the musicians who have made outstanding contributions to the development of contemporary Chinese music.
In 1987, Zhou Chenglong led a troupe to Germany to perform, and served as conductor, visiting 15 cities in Germany.
In 2001, at the APEC summit meeting, he adapted Folk Ballads of the World and at the 2002 APEC Ministerial Conference, he created a concerto for percussion and orchestra imitating the Tang music "Spring and Jingming", which reflects his unique musical language. As well as aesthetic taste, he strives to make himself a wider, newer and more distinctive personal ganger on the music road, which has won praise from all walks of life.
Zhou Chenglong, a former deputy head of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, is now a national first-level composer. Member of China Musicians Association, director of Shanghai Musicians Association, executive director of China National Orchestra Society, director of National Orchestra Professional Committee of Shanghai Musicians Association, artistic director of Shanghai Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.
Zhou Chenglong is a very active and prolific composer in the music industry. His major works include: Erhu Concerto "Jiang Love". Pipa Concerto "Sunset in Xishuangbanna", Zhonghu Concerto "The Legend of Kelaqin Prairie", Dizi Concerto "Mountain Wind", Guqin Concerto "Guangling San", and large ensembles "Thinkings of Western Sichuan", "Crossing Ling Dingyang", "Ding Yang" Taiwan Suite", "Wei Feng" and other nearly 500 works of various styles and different combinations. He has also composed music for more than 20 TV series. In recent years, he has created large-scale folk orchestral works "Mountain Chrysanthemum", "Mountain Spring", "Following the Wind in Western Yunnan", and created "Deep Love in Rivers and Waters" for the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, and published more than 20 personal music albums of different types. The representative ones are: "Sunrise in the Desert", "The Legend of Matouqin" and "Zen · Tea Blightly" and so on. The guqin songs "Shen Ren Chang", "Gu Feng Cao", "Chong Xiao Yin" and "Three Nongs of Plum Blossoms" were adapted and orchestrated by him. Guzheng songs such as "Dance of the Coachman (The Girl of Dabancheng)" and "The Autumn Wind Ci" are regarded as the fine works in the treasure house of Guqin songs.
In recent years, he founded Shanghai Longyun Music Production Co., Ltd., relying on and uniting a group of famous composers: He Zhanhao, Gu Guanren, Xu Jingxin, Fu Peihua, etc. to hold dozens of different types of folk music concerts, which were well received by the society. In order to promote and develop folk music, he persistently publicized, taught and popularized the knowledge of folk music, and aimed at the new situation of the music market, he joined hands with Shanghai Music Publishing House, and edited the "Popular Rain Pop Sketch Series" and "Popular Rain" published by Shanghai Music Publishing House. The National Orchestra Ensemble Collection (II) and (III), Plucked Music Ensemble (II) and (III), Guzheng Ensemble Collection and Si-Bamboo Small Ensemble have won the favor of many musicians.
