Biyue corbel (pinyin: bì yuē niú tuǐ qín) is a plucked stringed musical instrument of the Hani people. Popular in the Mojiang Hani Autonomous County, Simao, Yunnan Province, it is generally used for solo and folk song accompaniment.
The young man Biyue often plays the corbel for self-entertainment or sings while playing, and often accompanies the folk songs sung by girls. It is an inseparable musical instrument in the love life of Hani young men and women. According to custom, it can only be played during the harvest season.
When playing, place the piano body obliquely in front of the chest, hold the piano with the left hand to press the strings, and the right hand to play the plectrum. The plectrum is made of calf horn or bamboo. The two strings of the Biyue Corbel are tuned according to the relationship of fifths, and the tone is clear and elegant, but the volume is small. Can be used solo or to accompany folk songs.
