The big pipa of the Dong nationality (pinyin: dòng zú dà pí pa) is the big pipa of the Dong nationality. It is popular in Rongjiang, Congjiang and Liping in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province, Sanjiang and Rongshui in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Datong Dong Autonomous County in Hunan Province.

At the end of the 14th century AD, the Dong Pipa was popular among the Dong people. In the Ming Dynasty, Shen Wei's "Guizhou Tujing Xinzhi" contains: "Men ... play reeds, wood leaves, pipa, two-stringed qin, and lead a dog-armed eagle for pleasure." The Dong people in Rongjiang County also sang in the "Ancestor Sacrifice Song": "The cock's tail hangs on the ear, the pipa hugs the chest..." There is also such a lyric in the pipa song: "Cut down the camphor wood and take it home, and pick up the camphor wood to make the pipa." It proves that the Dong nationality pipa has a history of more than 600 years. .

When the Dong nationality pipa accompanies a long narrative song, it is only used in the prelude and interlude, usually without accompaniment, and sometimes it is only improvised during the singing process to enhance the rhythm of the song. When accompanying the big songs sung by the Dong chorus, the large pipa with a large piano box and beef tendon strings is often used.
