matouqin Matouqin (pinyin: mǎ tóu qín) is a two-stringed stringed musical instrument with a trapezoidal body and a handle carved into the shape of a horse's head. A sort of.

Matouqin is made of hardwood, and there are many kinds of speakers such as inverted trapezoid and rectangle. The big one is 120 cm long and the small one is 70 cm long. The speakers are covered with patterned horseskin or sheepskin on both sides. The special feature of the strings is that they are composed of multiple ponytails divided into two bundles. The strings are tuned according to the relationship of fourths, and the ponytail bow is used to play between the two strings.
