Pipa of the Dong nationality overview
The pipa (pinyin: dòng zú zhōng pí pa) is a plucked musical instrument loved by the Dong people. It is often used to accompany Dong songs. Mainly popular in Guizhou, Guangxi and Hunan inhabited areas of Dong nationality.
When playing the pipa among the Dong people, people usually take a seated position, place the qin box on the right leg, the head of the qin is inclined to the upper left, the left hand holds the qin to press the strings, and the right hand holds the bamboo or horn-made pick to play. The timbre in Ming Ming Dong pipa is divided into three types: large, medium and small. The pipa in the Dong ethnic group has bright and sweet timbres. In addition to solo and ensemble, it can also accompany Dong songs and dances. It is a musical instrument with very ethnic characteristics.
