Tajik Aichi overview

Tajik Aichi The Tajik Aijik (pinyin: tǎ jí kè àijié kè) is the only bow-drawn stringed musical instrument of the Tajik people. Unique shape, crisp sound, can be used for solo, ensemble or singing and dancing accompaniment. Popular in Tashkurgan Tajik Autonomous County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and its adjacent areas.

This is a unique form of Aiji, which is completely different from the Aiji of the Uyghur and Uzbeks, and is unique in shape and style.

It consists of a sound box, a headstock, a piano rod, a peg, a bridge, a string and a bow. The sound box is flat and rectangular, made of lead and iron plates, the bridge is made of walnut or apricot wood, and the bow is made of willow or poplar.
