Speaking of which, the great painter Li Keran's lifelong wish has never been realized. He can only sit at his desk and draw a bull with a brush. The bull he draws has both shape and spirit, naive and full of strength. He is called the "Four Wonders of Chinese Ink Painting in the 20th Century." Although his paintings of cows were auctioned for nearly 300 million yuan, who knows what this great painter with a humming cow's temper will never forget in his life?
Jinghu is an extremely important musical instrument in Peking Opera. It was originally called "Huqin", and was originally called "Erguzi". The reason for changing its name to Jinghu is to accompany Peking Opera, and it is relatively fixed. Mr. Li Keran is famous for his love for Lajinghu. His son often recalled that when my father talked about his life, he would never leave that sentence: My first choice was to play the huqin, and my second choice was to paint.
Rakinhu seems easy but is actually difficult. It is composed of five parts: the piano bar, the piano barrel, the piano code, the strings and the bow. Pull the bow and pull the strings to make them vibrate and transmit to the barrel through the bridge, and the air in the barrel will fluctuate, producing a crisp and bright tone. We often see Jinghu performers pulling their bows to and fro, and even shaking their heads and changing their heads. Beijing rhyme overflows. If you really want to become a good violinist, you must first practice bowing, consolidate basic skills, and also learn to sing, and be familiar with the gongs and drums and figures of the actors on the stage. The old Jinghu players finally reached the state of "no madness, no life" before they were embarrassed to say that I am a huqin player. Like contemporary Jinghu master Li Muliang and Jinghu sage Yan Shouping, which one has not accumulated 50 or 60 years of stage experience to form a unique playing style. That's not to mention, literary music, martial music, genres, styles, Kunqu Opera, etc. are attacked across the board, if life is only a horn, in old age, it is just a piano player with a combination of vocals and qin.
But there is such a person who broke the rules of Hu Qinxing.
He plays the violin with pure sound, skilled bowing, crisp fingering and gorgeous timbre. Although he is the originator of the Chinese painting "Red Landscape" and a master-level figure, his Jinghu playing skills are excellent and very appealing. What is even more rare is that he is able to master the singing methods of various genres of Peking Opera by heart, and he has a first-class foundation and unique aesthetic insights for the various complex bowing, fingering, and padding techniques of Jinghu performance, and plays various genres. , The singing of various trades, all are handy. He is Li Keran, a fan of Jinghu, an outstanding painter in modern China and a disciple of Qi Baishi. In the year of Gu Xizhi, he served as the vice chairman of the Chinese Artists Association and the president of the Chinese Painting Research Institute. He is good at painting landscapes and figures, especially cattle.
Talking about the fate with Jinghu, we have to start from 1925, when Li Keran accidentally got a theater ticket to attend a Peking Opera Hall. It is said that the famous Peking Opera masters Mei Lanfang, Cheng Yanqiu, Shang Xiaoyun, Xun Huisheng, etc. were all invited to sing the opera. He originally thought that he liked the singing performances of the four famous artists, but who knew that he had only taken a fancy to the huqin player. This year, Li Keran was 18 years old and just graduated from the Shanghai Art School founded by Liu Haisu. Whether it was his professional achievements or his old school foundation, as well as his comprehension of Wang Shigu's fine-pen landscape, he was appreciated by the Shanghai New School of Painting. , Liu Haisu, the first art educator who dared to start a domestic body sketch, personally wrote an inscription for Li Keran's graduation work. After that, he entered the Hangzhou West Lake Art Academy, where Lin Fengmian was the president, and painting throughout his life has become a lifelong career that Li Keran must insist on and stick to.
After watching the church meeting of the Four Famous Dan, he miraculously met Sun Zuochen, the master of Huqin in the Republic of China. From then on, he fell in love with Jinghu and the artistic creation of Peking Opera out of control. Because Bai's master was too powerful, in later life, Li Keran could often come to the scene to watch many famous Peking Opera artists sing and befriend them. After liberation, he often played the huqin in addition to painting. He often said that it is okay to go out without a paintbrush, but absolutely impossible without a huqin. The painter Huang Yongyu once praised "the qin he plays is not a small one or a great one!" Li Keran's wife Zou Peizhu also said that "if he is not a painter, he will be a huqin player".
During his lifetime, when Li Keran talked about the influence of Peking Opera on his paintings, he always said that the symbolic and abstract aesthetics contained in Peking Opera are the artistic laws that need to be followed in the creation of oriental art. The attitude of art, painting has the same truth. There are commonalities between arts, and Peking Opera has an extremely important influence on Li Keran's creation.
Perhaps it is because he loves Peking Opera and likes to play the huqin, that Li Keran has become a very interesting person. Even if he was forced to stop writing during the Cultural Revolution and went to work in a cadre school, Huqin was still by his side, and the qin statement was bright. This kind of ideological realm is reflected in the paintings. The cows in the pen simply walk, graze, and swim in the water, all of which are in a leisurely and contented situation. The shepherd boy playing with the willow branches on the cow's back is innocent and cute. With a few strokes, he draws out a pure and vibrant pastoral scene.
The basic skills of Jinghu's performance and the serious attitude of performing arts have influenced Li Keran's creation. The reason why he draws cows well is directly related to his habit of playing the violin all the year round. Playing a wrong note is a failure, which is to ruin the play and ruin the role. It must be serious, rigorous and meticulous. Therefore, when observing the various habits of the cattle, the food, drink, and labor of the cattle, Li Keran stood aside, holding his breath and observing silently. This station often lasted for a long time.
Li Keran once wrote an inscription on the masterpiece "Five Bulls": "The bull is also infinitely powerful. It bows its head and does not try to be arrogant. He is exhausted all his life, and he does not take credit for others. He is pure and gentle, but also strong at times, and moves forward steadily. , I don't want to step on the air, describe it without splendor, and have a high-spirited spirit. I admire its nature and love its shape, so I never tire of writing it."
This is a Jinghu family who was delayed by painting. We know that no matter how well you play the huqin, if you can't accompany the horns, it will be extremely painful. Who is Li Keran's character? Does he have it?
During the Anti-Japanese War, Li Keran went to Chongqing National Art School as a lecturer in Chinese painting. During this period, he met Zou Peizhu, a classmate and bedmate of his sister who studied sculpture. One day, Li Keran was playing Jinghu in a small courtyard. When Zou Peizhu heard it, he blurted out, "You are playing the Beijing opera card "Liu Qingniang"!" She actually understands Beijing opera! Li Keran was both surprised and excited, and what surprised him even more was that Zou Peizhu not only loved Peking Opera, but also sang full-scale old-fashioned operas, and his singing was by no means very good.
As a result, his wife Zou Peizhu became Li Keran's "horn" in his life.
In 1989, Mr. Li Keran left us. Later, in order to fulfill his last wish, his wife Mr. Zou Peizhu founded the Li Keran Foundation and the Li Keran Painting Academy to encourage more young people to pursue their dreams of painting. As Li Keran's life-long accompaniment "horn", his wife also donated more than 200 works left by him to the country. These works are invaluable. For this reason, Mr. Zou Peizhu has also been criticized by his children. Not to mention, every family has a scripture that is difficult to sing. Just like Mr. Ji Xianlin closed his eyes, his children and grandchildren began to do that.
Today, Mr. Zou Peizhu has also left us. Although it is a pity, their artistic accomplishments and the one-time love for Jinghu forged with each other are worthy of the memory and admiration of future generations.

Did you hear the old gentleman's piano?
