Cai Bo, the principal of Mixiangyang Calligraphy and Painting Training School, the vice president and secretary general of the Municipal Guqin Association, a member of the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Association, and a lecturer in Western painting at the Municipal University for the Elderly. Since 2017, he has served as a "qin substitute" and "guqin consultant" in various film and television groups in Tangcheng, and has successively participated in film and television works such as "Yan Bone" and "The Legend of the Demon Cat".

Cai Bo: Guqin is melodious and seeks soulmates

"The plain qin plays the elegant exercise, and the clear voice rises with the wind"... As one of the oldest plucked instruments in China, the guqin has been the preference of literati and poets since ancient times.

Ranked first in the "four arts" of qin, chess, calligraphy and painting, the seven strings of the guqin have passed through thousands of years of cold and summer, connecting ancient dynasties and today's eves.

In the autumn of 2022, the distant, rich, elegant and ethereal sound of the guqin will also reverberate on the campus of the Municipal University for the Elderly.

Cai Bo said that the guqin is not only a musical instrument, but also something to express feelings. The sound of the guqin is peaceful, subtle and distant, and it is played slowly and steadily. The elegant sound can relieve stress and relax the mood. It is very suitable for middle-aged and elderly people to cultivate their sentiments and cultivate their self-cultivation. More importantly, the art of guqin is broad and profound, which not only contains the musical aesthetics it represents, but also includes the spiritual pursuit of ancient literati, which is the epitome of thousands of years of Chinese culture. Learning Guqin is also the learning and inheritance of Chinese culture.

"Compared with children and young people, middle-aged and elderly people have a wider experience, especially in Chinese literature and traditional culture, and they also have a more thorough understanding, which helps to appreciate and learn Guqin." Cai Bo said.

Guqin notation is also known as minus character notation, which is shortened from the earliest written notation. The characters in the score are all composed of different Chinese characters. After some radicals or radicals are deleted, and then recombined, these characters represent different fingerings and signs. Even if a qin player does not know the rhythm or the names of the sounds, they can "naturally obtain the pitch of each sound" by simply following the playing method recorded in the minus-character notation. Compared with the complicated staff, it is easier for the old comrades to learn the minus-character notation.

As for the course arrangement for the new school year, Cai Bo introduced that the course teaches Guqin culture and basic knowledge, understands Guqin minus-character notation, and masters the basic rhythm of notation. method, and basic techniques such as the left hand's up and down advance and retreat.

After 13 years of learning the qin, Cai Bo sighed with emotion that the charm of the guqin lies in its hundreds of tunes and thousands of tunes. The same piece of music, due to the different experiences and moods of the violin players, has a different feeling when played. And this kind of thoughts and emotions hidden in the sound of the piano are not only told to myself, but also to bosom friends, which can be said to be pleasing to oneself and others.
