On the evening of February 18, the Chinese New Year Concert "Memory of China" in the 2022 "Happy Chinese New Year" series of activities of the Chinese Embassy in Belgium was held in Ghent, Belgium, and more than 100 spectators purchased tickets to attend. The clearness of the dulcimer is combined with the low cry of the cello, accompanied by the melodious singing of the soprano, telling the euphemism and lingering of Tang poetry; the song "Slow Voice" was added to the chorus of the Belgian Cantokids Youth Choir. With the distinctive features of the combination of Chinese and Western, and with the help of classical Chinese poetry, the concert brilliantly interprets the "Chinese memory" in the heart of the composer Zuo Han.
On the day of the performance, Belgium was hit by a storm that was once in 30 years. The audience came with the strong wind and said that it was a worthwhile trip, "We were intoxicated by the wonderful music, as if we were in the era of ancient Chinese poets. Very moving" "The whole performance is amazing! The performance of the traditional Chinese instrument dulcimer is even more amazing". After the concert, the audience responded with warm applause.
Zuo Han played the dulcimer live, he said: "I am full of enthusiasm for China, and the original intention of my creation is to integrate elements of Eastern and Western cultures. My Chinese wife and I selected some poems from the Tang and Song Dynasties and composed them. , resulting in the 'Memory of China' series of songs. The music is mostly original, but some are inspired by works such as Bach, Schubert and Puccini."
Zuo Han loves Chinese culture and has worked in music teaching and organ performance in Beijing and Qingdao successively. After he returned to Belgium in 2011, he devoted half a year to writing, and for the first time put Chinese poetry on the stage in the form of music in Belgium.
