On July 31, a cultural salon of "dialogue on intangible cultural heritage" with the theme of "the cross-time and space gathering of traditional musical instruments on the Silk Road" was held in Urumqi. This activity is one of the supporting activities of the 2022 "Xinjiang is a Good Place" counterpart-aid exhibition of intangible cultural heritage in 19 provinces and cities in Xinjiang.
At the event, the inheritors of intangible cultural heritage from 19 provinces and cities in Xinjiang and local Xinjiang were invited to play Kunqu Opera Suona and Sunai, Nanyin Sibao and Xinjiang Tashi, Southern Xinjiang Rewapu and Northern Xinjiang Rewa respectively. Groups of common instruments were displayed. Six experts and scholars in traditional musical instruments shared academically from the perspectives of their respective research fields in the process of intangible cultural heritage protection and inheritance, and discussed how to further inherit and develop. Experts and scholars also answered the questions of participants and inheritors on the spot. Everyone agreed that intangible cultural heritage, as the display and inheritance of traditional Chinese culture, should not only be innovated in the production process of intangible cultural heritage works, but also in it. We strive to innovate in the way of inheritance, dissemination and promotion, so that intangible cultural heritage can enter the lives of the people more deeply and go to the world more widely.
The head of the Muqam Art Troupe and researcher of Xinjiang Art Theater, Dilixiati Parhatti, introduced that through the common display of similar musical instruments and the same musical instruments in different regions, discussing their similarities and differences makes the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang more Extensive understanding of the excellent traditional Chinese culture gives us more confidence to carry forward our excellent traditional culture.
Feng Zhuohui, deputy director and associate researcher of the Music Research Institute of the China Academy of Arts, the convener of the event, said: "Through the dialogue and exchange of traditional music across time and space, we have seen many cultural phenomena and artistic expressions. The reason behind it is that the history is too long. It is because the Chinese culture is so broad that this vast land has nurtured such a rich culture, which is of great significance for us to protect our national culture from the academic and artistic levels."
"By showing the richness of our musical instruments and showing the homology of musical instruments, this historical and consistent context has contributed to the prosperity and development of our entire Chinese traditional music culture, including modern and contemporary music culture."
