Shandong Guzheng music is the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list projects announced by The State Council. The performance art of Shandong zither is one of the most influential zither schools in China. It is mainly spread in Mudan District and its surrounding areas in Heze City, Shandong Province. Shandong guzheng music has a long history. According to legend, in the Western Han Dynasty, there were local folk zheng songs such as Autumn Moon in Han Palace and Hidden Gong sighing. Up to the Ming Dynasty, zither was widely popular in the southwest of Shandong, and the performance skills also developed greatly. Since the early Qing Dynasty, Zheng music had become a part of people's life in Heze and other places. There was a saying among the people that "most of the big households in the city had songs, and every village outside the city had zheng". The representative songs include Autumn Moon in Han Palace, High Mountains and Flowing Water, etc., and the small board Zheng song, which is adapted from local rap and folk tunes in modern times, is concise in structure, full of changes in rhythm, and beautiful and soft in melody. It is mainly popular in Heze area, and the representative songs include Fengxiang Song and the World as One. There are ten sets of classical Zheng songs spread in Heze, and more than 200 small plate songs.

"Fishing Boat Singing Late" is a rather classic Zheng song, the music describes the sunset against the boundless blue waves, fishermen relaxed, fishing boats with the wave gradually distant beautiful scene. This piece of music is the most widely spread and most influential solo for zheng in China since the 1930s.

As the protection unit of Shandong Guzheng music, a national intangible cultural heritage project, Heze City Cultural Center holds offline performances of intangible cultural heritage protection projects from time to time.

Involving musical instruments

Guzheng (pinyin: Gǔ Zhēng), also known as Hanzheng and Qinzheng, is an ancient national musical instrument of the Han nationality and is popular all over China. It is often used for solo, duet, instrumental ensemble and accompaniment of song and dance, opera and folk art. Because of its wide range, beautiful timbre, rich playing skills and strong expressiveness, it is known as the "King of Music", also known as "Oriental Piano", and is one of the unique and important national musical instruments in China.
