The classification of yangqin bamboo sequence is an important link in the study of bamboo sequence. At present, there are illogical classifications in the teaching of dulcimer in music colleges. Logically speaking, the performance and teaching theory are out of touch, and the concept of dulcimer teaching is unclear and the words are not clear, which will cause confusion in dulcimer teaching.

In the author's humble opinion, yangqin bamboo sequences can be roughly divided into three categories, namely: common bamboo sequences, skill bamboo sequences, and combined bamboo sequences. Commonly used bamboo sequences are divided into: single bamboo sequence, double bamboo sequence, alternating bamboo sequence, and changing bamboo sequence; skill bamboo sequence is divided into: continuous bamboo sequence, continuous bamboo sequence, divided bamboo sequence, etc.; combined bamboo sequence It is divided into: double-single combination bamboo sequence, rotating combination bamboo sequence, and polyphonic combination bamboo sequence. Described below.

Introduction of Bamboo Sequence for Dulcimer Performance

Common Bamboo Orders

Bamboo sequence: one-handed single-tone percussion. There are two types: right bamboo sequence (right bamboo, originally called right hit) single-tone right hand percussion; left bamboo sequence (left bamboo, originally called left hit) single-tone left-hand percussion.

Double Bamboo Preface (Shuangzhu, formerly known as doubles): two-tone two-hand percussion. Various intervals of double-bamboo percussion, in the double-tone performance of dulcimer, it is generally accustomed to the double-bamboo sequence being the left-hand crown, right-hand root, (upper left, lower right) in special cases, in the high-pitched area of dulcimer, the crown of the right hand, the crown of the left hand root note. (Upper right and lower left) Shuangzhu is often used in octaves, fourths, fifths, as well as the intervals of three or six degrees, two or seven degrees. For example: double double double double.

Alternate Bamboo Sequence (original name Swap): Alternately playing with a single tone changing hands, it is a commonly used bamboo sequence. There are two types: Right and Left Bamboo Sequence (formerly known as Right Bamboo Method and Right Playing Method), and Left and Right Bamboo Sequence (formerly known as Left Bamboo Method and Left Playing Method).

Right and Left Bamboo Sequence: (formerly known as Right Bamboo Method) is a commonly used bamboo sequence. Start with the right hand and alternately play single notes with both hands, requiring the right bamboo to strike on the downbeat of a measure; or on the upbeat at the beginning of a phrase or section, or on the first half beat. For example: right left bamboo sequence (right + left) right left left, right left left.

Left and Right Bamboo Sequence: (formerly known as Left Bamboo Method) is a commonly used bamboo sequence in which the left bamboo starts, followed by the right bamboo, and the playing is repeated cyclically. To play, Zuo Zhu is required to play on the downbeat of a measure, or on the downbeat at the beginning of a phrase or passage, or on the first half of the beat. For example: left and right bamboo sequence (left + right) left and right, left and right.

Changed Bamboo Sequence (formerly known as Bian Da): The left and right hands change alternately and strike, which is a commonly used bamboo sequence.

In fact, it is a kind of mixed bamboo sequence of strong beat accent, readjustment and change. According to the needs of the music, the right bamboo sequence and the left bamboo sequence are alternately performed. The bottom is divided into two types: right-to-bamboo order and left-to-bamboo order.

Right-changing bamboo sequence: (mixed bamboo sequence) referred to as right-changing bamboo. For example: right+left transforms to left+right.

Left-change bamboo sequence: (mixed bamboo sequence) referred to as left-change bamboo. For example: left+right transforms to right+left.

Skill Bamboo Order

1. Lian Bamboo Sequence: referred to as Lian Da, a fixed bamboo sequence used in special rhythms.

To play the first eighth and last sixteenth notes, a bamboo sequence can be used. For example: After the right hand strikes, the left hand strikes again. Right right left, right right left; or left left, left left.

To play horizontal octaves, in order to avoid excessive crossover of the piano and bamboo, you can use a continuous bamboo sequence, for example: right and right. (Right single bamboo combo, first treble and then bass)

2. Compound bamboo sequence: a fixed bamboo sequence used repeatedly with homophony

Double double strike (double jump) to repeat the homophonic repetition of the eighth note, you can use double double strike, right hand double jump double strike, then left hand double jump double strike. Use a fixed bamboo sequence, for example: right right left left, right right left left. Or left and right, left and right.

Double triple strike (triple jump) triple strike, you can use double triple strike, right hand triple strike, then left hand triple strike. Use a fixed bamboo sequence, such as: right, right, left, left, right, right, left, left, left, left, right, left, left, right, right.

Dumbo sequence: The left hand is damped, and the right hand is played continuously (left pause and right play). Use the order of bamboo, for example: right right, right right.

2. Combination of bamboo sequences in rounds: There are two types of bamboo sequences in the left and right, and the bamboos in the right and left.

The left wheel and the right play the bamboo sequence, the combination of the bamboo sequence, the left bamboo wheel sound, the right bamboo melody or the arpeggio percussion.

The right wheel plays the left bamboo sequence, the combination of the bamboo sequence, the right bamboo wheel sound, the left bamboo melody or the arpeggio percussion.
