On the evening of April 8, the sixth concert of the 2021/2022 music season of the Guangdong National Orchestra, "Listening to Guangdong - Yang Weijie, Sha Jingshan and the Guangdong National Orchestra", overcame the difficulties brought about by the epidemic and held it as scheduled at the Xinghai Concert Hall in Guangzhou. The symphony concert hall was full of seats, which is rare in the epidemic. It also shows the music enthusiasm of Yangcheng music fans and their love for the Guangdong National Orchestra and the two performers. The soloists are a couple who have been active on the Nanyue music stage in recent years, making the concert more meaningful. They played their own works "Poetry Township" and "Taoyuan Knot", which were even more rare highlights.
The repertoire of the concert is quite particular. In the first half, the composer Fang Xiaomin's folk orchestral piece "New Dream" warmed up the stage. After that, Yang Weijie and Sha Jingshan appeared respectively, under the baton of conductor Hou Danping, they played with the Guangdong National Orchestra. The performance of bamboo among plum blossoms. Including bamboo flute and band "Lyrics of the Prairie" (Ning Baosheng, Li Zhen), Zhongruan Concerto "Yunnan Memories" (Liu Xing), the third movement, and bamboo flute and band "Guangdong Sea" (Zhang Weiliang). The music of several tracks has a distinct character, rigorous and huge structure, which is not a small test for the band and soloist, and of course, it is also a good opportunity to play. "New Dream" is a masterpiece commissioned by the orchestra before, with a majestic sound, magnificent momentum and innovative spirit. Then, Yang Weijie blew out the prelude of "Prairie Lyrical", paving the way for the "sound and painting" of the vast grassland. The orchestration of this work is delicate and light, with both lyricism and description. "The Sea of Guangdong" reflects the tension of the national orchestra in the dramatic and symphonic music. Among them, the most impressive is the slow passage, the soulful melody similar to "bitter tune" is very moving, and the blending of the timbre of Qudi and Erxian is a genius stroke. The "Mechanical Allegro" of "Yunnan Memories" performed by Sha Jingshan fully demonstrated the charm of Zhongruan's musical instruments from skill to fun. In the collaboration with the band, people felt a kind of rigorous and baroque-like music. gorgeous.
In the second half of the repertoire, the last two pieces were created by the soloist and his wife, and fans have high expectations for this, and the selection of Cantonese Music Wujiatou and the band "Band Buckle Link" (Wang Dan Hongqu) can be understood as a tribute to traditional music. A tribute to music. Yang Weijie, Sha Jingshan and the head of the orchestra, huqin player Cao Yurong, Yehu player Xu Dandan and yangqin player Pan Weiwen formed a concerto of Wujiatou and the orchestra. As soon as the familiar theme sounded, there was a knowing smile from the audience, which floated in the concert hall together with the meaningful music melody. This kind of feeling is a rare and wonderful moment in Xinghai Concert Hall. The way of playing Cantonese music is too imaginative. Sha Jingshan demonstrated her ability to fully control the performance of national plucked music in Liuqin and the band's "Wandering in Sudi" (Li Yuejin's music), and the pipa and the band's "Taoyuan Yiyi" (Sha Jingshan's music, arranged by Jiang Ciliang). The gentle and agile of the former and the majestic atmosphere of the latter are quite quality. And Yang Weijie played his own bamboo flute and the band "Poem Country" (arranged by Jiang Ciliang), his dedication and improvisation were enough to surprise the listeners. In the end, the two Luan Feng and Ming played the excerpt of Yang Weijie's "Cantonese Bamboo" together, which was not only a thank you to the fans and collaborators, but also made the fans return with joy.
This is a wonderful national orchestra concert. The Guangdong National Orchestra's in-depth cultivation of Chinese music has always been appreciated by music fans. As China's first doctorate in bamboo flute and a well-rounded plucked player, Yang Weijie and Sha Jingshan have a deep relationship with the Guangdong National Orchestra. Sha Jingshan used to be the liuqin principal of the orchestra, while Yang Weijie has had many pleasant collaborations with the orchestra in recent years. This cooperation is a well-prepared and created folk music feast, and I am grateful. Music fans who listened carefully that night will surely appreciate the unique charm of traditional Chinese instrumental music in performance, technique, color and musical expression. People have always had certain prejudices about folk music, such as insufficient stability and poor craftsmanship, which often give people a rough impression. In fact, in terms of expressiveness, bamboo flute, pipa, liuqin, and ruan are not inferior to Western musical instruments. In the concerto confrontation with the band, they can not only show the individuality of the Chinese national instrument, but also feel its delicate side. Yang Weijie and Sha Jingshan are in the mature stage of performing arts, and their future is boundless. Yang Weijie's performance has a large pattern, and the transitions of different musical pieces can always be logically rigorous and have dramatic tension. For example, in the middle part of "Prairie Lyrics", it goes without saying that the Huacai section, when the rhythm changes, the sudden force is like a vigorous galloping horse, which is very pleasant. Sha Jingshan's skill in using a variety of musical instruments is free, her emotions are handled delicately when playing, and she also reveals a dashing and free sense of humor, which is a rare temperament among female performers.
What is even more admirable is that the stage couple has a lofty pursuit of the music career. While busy performing and teaching, they devote themselves to creating, and new works are released frequently. The performances of "Poem Country" and "Taoyuan Yiyi" that were performed that night were their masterpieces. The former is a domestic premiere, and the latter is a world premiere. Both are carefully arranged by Malaysian Chinese composer Jiang Ciliang. They can play their own works with ease and the effect is very ideal. In the sky of folk music, there is a pair of flying phoenixes, and they live in the "Poetry Township", how can they not envy others.
