On April 3rd, in Minnesota, USA, pipa player and artistic director of Carleton College Chinese Orchestra Gao Hong will lead students to hold a special concert where Chinese pipa and world music collide. This concert carries the dual significance of commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Pipa master Lin Shicheng and Gao Hong's 50 years in the art.

Gao Hong deliberately chose the date of the concert to be the birthday of Mr. Lin Shicheng, the master of the Pudong School of Pipa. At that time, there will be a pipa impromptu solo work dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Lin Shicheng's birth. In addition, there are three premieres: the impromptu premiere of Gao Hong's first live collaboration with the rapper Dessa; the lute concerto "Celebration" composed by Kenwood Symphony Orchestra and Carlton Chinese Orchestra specially for this concert. The new version; the duet of Pipa and Zhongruan "Battle of Chu and Han" was choreographed by dance artist and choreographer Shen Bei, and it debuted in multiple genres combining music and dance for the first time.

The concert will showcase Gao Hong’s original works of cross-border cooperation with different cultures, such as the world music cross-border group “Jinglin and Chanxi” (Pipa, Ghana Drums, Electric Bass, Percussion), “Skip Rope” (rapper and Pipa’s cross-border combination). Collision), Pipa and Bassoon Concerto "Hometown Love", "Nostalgia" (Pipa, clarinet, cello, piano). Special guests include American rapper Dessa, Minnesota Symphony Orchestra principal clarinet and cellist Erik Wheeler, pianist Nikki Melville, multicultural world music quartet "Speaking In Tongues", Kenwood Symphony Orchestra and conductor Yuri Ivan from Ukraine.
