"Qilian Music and Painting" Lu Yaobo's original works concert was staged at Xi'an Concert Hall on June 24. The eight works, such as the Qilian Mountains, are stacked in layers, each with a different scene.
Listen carefully, the 8 works are different. The first is the creative idea. Lu Yaobo, who was a bamboo flute player, has been rooted in Xi'an drum music, Shaanxi local folk songs and operas after years of creation and accumulation. From solo works of flute and xiao, it has gradually extended to ancient vocal music, national chamber music, etc. His creative ideas and inspiration did not come from behind closed doors, and these sources and those who supported him all the way were the good teachers and friends on and behind the stage of this concert. Just like the encouragement and support from his family and three professors, Zhan Yongming, Ma Di, and Zhang Yanwu in the early stage of creation, Lu Yaobo got the assistance of two friends, Kong Zhixuan and Li Mo, in the composition and arrangement of the works, thus enriching the instrumental solo pieces gradually into national instrumental music. The form of the concerto is displayed in the industry.
The melodies of the works have their own merits, and each scene can convey an ancient rhyme and heart. When it comes to stories, the composer's creative process is from the past with the stars and the moon, and now the mountains are full of youth. The performer himself is the person who knows the most about this kind of musical instrument, and embarking on the path of creation is an important part of the performance process, and because of this link, flute music and flute art have more possibilities to some extent.
The sequence of performances throughout the concert works is ingenious. "On the Highlands" is Lu Yaobo's first work, formerly known as "Appeal to the Highlands". It was this work that prompted him to take the first step in his creative journey. Placing this work at the beginning of the concert heralded the beginning of his creation. Then, from the compilation of the whole work, it presented the dialogue between the bamboo flute and the piano, and gradually developed to the compilation of the national orchestra in the second half. "On the Highlands" is displayed in the flute of teacher Wang Hui from the School of Music of Weinan Normal University, Shaanxi Province, as if it were a call from afar on the Guanzhong Plain.
"Plum Blossom Qingge" is a new antique work based on Xi'an drum music. Shi Haijing, head of the Music Performance Department of the School of Music, Xi'an University of Arts and Sciences, once went to the Xi'an Conservatory of Music to participate in an event of "Xi'an Drum Music", and was aroused by the lyrics of "Xi'an Drum Music". He adapted and composed a poem, which will be commissioned in 2020. Yolu Yaobo composed the music and tried to explore the ancient rhyme of court music in the long history from the inheritance of "Xi'an drum music", thus achieving this work. In this concert, Yan Han, a soloist of the Shaanxi Radio and Television National Orchestra, perfectly interprets this work, and his long singing guides the audience to recall the ancient Chang'an Street from a thousand years ago in time and space.
"Jinse" was created around 2019, at the stage of creation of the "Wuling" and "Piaoxue" set of "Qilian Music and Painting". It is a xiao solo work with an antique melody. When the first draft was completed, there was no allegro in this piece, but in order to make the structure of the work more complete, allegro paragraphs were added. In the sound of Zhao Xun, associate professor of bamboo flute at Xi'an Conservatory of Music, I felt Zhuang Shengxiao's dream, and recalled the Chinese New Year with the sound of silk and bamboo.
In 2021, Lu Yaobo went to Beijing to participate in an event. He was invited by Nie Yunlei, the head of the Gong Luo New Art Orchestra, to write for the 37-reed sheng. "Yun Shao" was born after half a year. The creative idea not only considers the characteristics and timbre of the sheng, but also combines the experience of imitating Tang music and dance when he worked in the Tang Music Palace in his early years, and the inspiration inspired by "Xi'an drum music", and finally takes the music and dance of the Six Dynasties as the theme of the work, imitating the palace. Created by music. The key sheng in the hands of Li Xin, a sheng performer at the Shaanxi Opera Research Institute, shows all the beauty of harmony, and presents the wonderful sound of "beautiful and perfect".
One of the premieres of this performance, and the only piece of work created by special guests in Lu Yaobo's concert, which adds a touch of color and ink to this concert, it was created by the bamboo flute player Ma Di. "Ancient Chang'an". That night, this work was premiered by Ma Di. Once upon a time, the sound of horses' hooves on the ancient road in Chang'an could not see the flowers of Chang'an in a day. Tonight, with a sigh and a wind, the flowers of Chang'an were blown away by one song, and the flowers were prosperous for thousands of years.
In the next tour, Lu Yaobo will invite many mentors to help out. His flute art and creative heritage originated from three professors, Zhan Yongming, Ma Di and Zhang Yanwu. His performance benefited from the mutual assistance and cooperation of good teachers and friends, and he told his journey in front of everyone.
The second half of the "Qilian Music and Painting" suite was the highlight of the concert. "Wuling", "Plying Snow" and "Dancing Sand" were gradually created over a period of three years since 2017. The three flute pieces have different styles with three themes, and tried different combinations from the range of bangdi, qudi and bass flute, and used a variety of techniques. In the concert, three pieces were performed by Zhao Qi, an associate professor of bamboo flute in the Department of Chinese Music of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, Chen Xinyi, an undergraduate student of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and Lu Yaobo, a bamboo flute performer and composer. Zhao Qi's flute traversed the towering Wuling Mountains and the long ancient road, and the allegro played by the orchestra was like a flame of flames and a golden horse. Chuanyuan is surrounded by floating clouds, Chen Xinyi's flute is like elegant snow-white, and there is no trace of returning to the cloud, where can I return to my thoughts? One after another.
Excellent works are inseparable from the wonderful presentation of the performers' second creation, and the deafening applause and cheers at the concert are the proof of the perfect integration of works and performances. This concert is performed by the Shaanxi Provincial Song and Dance Theatre Chinese Orchestra.
"Walking west to Jiayu, condensing the elements without blue clouds" is the Qilian Mountains described by Chen Di; the wind and sand together, the snow-capped mountains and the winding Wuling are the Qilian Mountains described by Lu Yaobo. Walking in the Qilian Mountains, the sounds of ancient meaning echoed in my ears, and I traced the eternal heat in the Chinese blood.
