At noon on March 8, at Gate 1 of the "Bird's Nest" Stadium, Yu Yu, an erhu actor from the China Disabled Persons' Art Troupe, looked back and forth wearing black glasses. Because of congenital albinism, the vision in both eyes is less than 0.1, so Yu Yu could not see the face of the visitor, but there was still a smile on her snow-white face. On the 4th of this month, after she completed the performances of "In the Beautiful Ice and Snow", "Casual Thoughts on the Silk Road" and the "Kite Flying" in the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Winter Games, she and her team worked intensively on the winter sports. During the rehearsal for the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games, she told reporters that she had been rehearsing until 12 o'clock the day before.

"Effort and Companion"

"I'm probably always giggling, so I look younger." Yu Yu smiled and pulled off the brim of the panda-shaped hat, and a strand of white hair slipped down. She was born in Zhangye, Gansu Province in 1991 and suffers from congenital albinism; because albinism causes people to lack melanin, the skin and hair are white, and the vision in both eyes is less than 0.1, which cannot be corrected by glasses and other means .
Yu Yu said softly, "It's congenital, it's hard to change. But thanks to the high technology now, you can see that the screen on the mobile phone can now be enlarged by three times the font size." Every word on the screen of Yu Yu's mobile phone is oversized , she said, "Almost every half hour of watching the screen, I have to rest my eyes."
Yu Yu said that when she was in elementary school, because of her special appearance, she was often misunderstood by her classmates and parents as a child with infectious diseases; because of her weak eyesight, she had to put her face on the workbook when writing; There was a layer of pencil dust on his nose; after the teacher learned about his situation, he said that he could not turn in the homework because of "special circumstances".
"However, I have a pair of strict and loving parents. My parents will never approve of this 'special situation', and they will not allow me to compromise on my 'special situation'. Even if I write slowly and laboriously, I must write like other Like my classmates, I completed my homework on time. In addition, my parents also wanted to teach me to learn to accept and share, and encouraged me to go out to meet more friends.”
For Yu Yu, her father was a guiding light on her way of growing up. "Because of my poor eyesight, I couldn't see what was written on the sheet music, so my father helped me to copy the big character sheet music and write each note in the size of a matchbox. So Different from other children, every time I go to class, I bring a stack of A3 hand-written large-character notation with me."
"Why do you want to learn a musical instrument? Dad said that girls can improve their self-cultivation by learning a musical instrument. Dad also said that no matter whether my appearance will be accepted by everyone, lifelong friends will come and go, but the instrument in my hand is not only I can listen and talk, and it will stay with me longer.”

"Sweet Girl"

"Effort and company will bring strength to people." Yu Yu's efforts were not in vain. In 2005, at the age of 14, she won the first prize in the Gansu Province Disabled Art Show, and her performance of Erhu was selected to be sent to the China Disabled People's Art Troupe ; After evaluation, she became the smallest actor in the art troupe.
"But in the early days of joining the art troupe, I felt that my skills could not meet the high requirements of the performance. I practiced very hard, but I still made various mistakes every time I rehearsed. For this reason, I often secretly cry in private. With the help of the professional class teacher, I am the first to walk into the piano room and the last to leave every day, and use more practice to overcome mistakes.”
In 2009, Yu Yu entered the Broadcasting and Hosting Training Course of Communication University of China in order to improve her cultural accomplishment and learn the broadcasting and hosting profession she loved since she was a child. "There are two biggest obstacles in learning. One is that my eyesight is too low to see the word mentioner, and I need to memorize all the content in the shortest time before every time I go to the camera. The other obstacle is my Nystagmus, my eyes can't focus on the lens. In other words, when I see on the screen, I'm always looking elsewhere instead of the lens, which is caused by low vision. I even failed an exam because I didn't look at the lens. Realizing the seriousness of this problem hit me hard. Later, relying on a stubborn stubbornness, I tried my best to practice my eyes and facial expressions. Countless adjustments and corrections, even if I can’t actually see the camera, so I have to pretend to be watching, and I have to pass the fake as the real thing to meet the standard of being on camera.”

Yu Yu said that in 2011, an art troupe's performance just needed to join the host's performance. After evaluation by experts and leaders, she began to serve as the host of the art troupe. At present, she has visited more than 70 countries and regions with the group and performed more than a thousand times. During this period, he has completed many important national performance tasks, and has been awarded the "Cultural Exchange Ambassador" issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, and has been received by leaders and important officials of various countries for many times.
In the art troupe, Yu Yu also gained love. In 2012, Yu Yu met Liang Ximing, the music director of the China Disabled People's Art Troupe who later became her husband, and they lived together in Shunyi, Beijing. Once, she saw the orphans in the Shunyi Social Welfare Institute on the Internet, so she and her husband Liang Ximing took the initiative to find the Guang'ai School in Shunyi, and as a public welfare ambassador, taught music to the children of the Social Welfare Institute. In 2018, Yu Yu won the title of "Shunyi Girl" with "beautiful works of art and optimistic and enterprising spirit" in the selection activity of "Shunyi Girl" held in Shunyi District, Beijing.

"Actually, I am really 'successful'. When I was in my hometown, my father and mother were by my side, and they supported me firmly. Later, I met my husband in my artistic career. Now, our son is one and a half years old, and his body is Healthy." Yu Yu smiled again.
