On Feb 12, a children's pipa performance with the theme of "String Charm, New Sound and Sea Melody inheritance" was held at the Cultural Service center of Huinan Town. The bursts of pipa playing on the stage not only show the skills and elegance of the students, but also show the rich achievements of "Pipa Art · Pudong School" in Huinan Town.
As the origin of the national intangible cultural heritage "Pipa Art · Pudong School", Huinan Town has been committed to excavating, protecting and inheriting this intangible cultural heritage in recent years. In July 2016, Huinan Town established the first district-level Pudong School lute learning center, and later set up several tower-level Pudong School lute inheritance points, and cooperated with many schools in the town to set up Pudong School lute interest classes, to explore and cultivate more students in the town to jointly inherit lute art.
On the same day, more than 40 students participated in the presentation performance from Pudong School Lute Learning Institute in Huinan Town, Pudong School Lute Art Inheritance Hall (Huixin Art School) in Wenyuan Community in Huinan Town and Xinmiao Art Troupe in Pudong School Lute learning center in Huinan Town. The students came to the stage successively, and brought a number of programs such as "The Wild Dance of the Golden Snake", "House of Flying Daggered" and "Peach Blossom Laughter", presenting a wonderful pipa performance for the audience.
Many of these students have been studying in Pudong School Lute School for many years and have won national and municipal ranking. Ding Yiyi is one of the first batch of students of Pudong School Lute School in Huinan Town. Last year, she won the gold medal of Class C of Primary school of the 6th "Yangyin" National Youth Art Exhibition Instrumental Music Solo Lute Project in 2022 and the gold medal of Primary School Group (Grades 1-5) of Pudong New Area Primary School Art Individual Competition in 2022.
In this report performance, Ding Yiyi participated in a total of three performances. She told reporters that she began to play the pipa when she was five years old, and had been deeply in love with the pipa for more than six years. "At first, my fingers hurt when I played the pipa, so I didn't like it very much. But later, I found that playing the pipa can not only show the softness of the Jiangnan rain, but also show the scene of thousands of troops and horses, so I fell in love with the pipa. "While practicing, you can express your emotions and relieve them."
Feng Miaojin, Ding Yiyi's mother, told reporters that her daughter was impatient and could not sit still at the beginning, but now she is very resilient. Playing the pipa has brought about changes. "Sometimes she can practice a tone or a piece of music 10 times, 20 times, even 50 times 100 times, she can stick to it, which will be very beneficial to her whole growth."
It is reported that in order to continuously improve students' playing skills and skills, Huinan Town regularly holds pipa master class public lectures, theme seminars and concerts, and has also held "Huinan Cup" youth Pipa competition for many times to build a platform for students to learn, show and communicate.
"Since the establishment of the school seven years ago, more than 200 children have participated in the public interest classes. The first batch of young students have obtained the lute amateur level 10 certificate. Many of them have participated in national and municipal lute competitions and achieved some good ranking." "Pipa Art · Pudong School" district representative inheritor Wang Ruilin said.
On the one hand, this presentation and performance is to provide a stage for the young students who love the lute in the town, and on the other hand, to attract more community residents to join in the team of protecting, inherits and carries forward Pudong School lute art. Next, Huinan Town will actively carry out more and larger scale pipa inheritance activities, create a bigger stage for students, and inject fresh blood for inheriting the intangible cultural heritage of "Pipa Art · Pudong School". "I hope Pudong School lute can shine again in Huinan town, where it originated, and let more people know about the unique charm of Pudong School lute." Wang Ruilin said.
