Student artists in Shanghai marked the summer holiday with a spectacular music event.
On the evening of July 13, 2024, the "Red Capriccion" folk concert - Shanghai Students Folk Music Alliance special performance was held at Jaguar Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall. The concert brought together more than 400 outstanding performers from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Yangpu Senior High School, Xuhui District Youth Activity Center Folk Orchestra, Minhang District Youth Activity Center Folk Orchestra, Huangpu District Youth Art Activity Center Folk Orchestra, Changning District Children's Palace Folk Orchestra, Yangpu District Children's Palace Folk Orchestra. On the stage, students from primary and secondary schools performed red classic works together to show the vigor and vitality of young people in the new era.
The folk music ensemble "My Motherland" played by the Children's Palace Orchestra of Yangpu District opened the prelude to the concert. The popular patriotic melody flowed in every corner of the concert hall. The students used their instruments to make people feel like seeing the magnificent scenery of the motherland's rivers sailing shadows drifting and the fields of rice waves wafting.
Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Student Orchestra brought the chamber ensemble "Red Mountain". The music is sometimes melodic and sometimes rhythmic, expressing people's love for the heroic Red Army and their longing and yearning for the beautiful future.
The national orchestra "Xin · Nian" is a letter sent to the revolutionary ancestors in the form of music. The students of the Chinese orchestra of Yangpu Senior High School use national instrumental music to show the happy life, the vigorous development of society and the prosperity of the motherland.
"Shandandan Blooming Red" by Xuhui District Youth Activity Center Folk Orchestra is a suona concerto composed of folk songs in northern Shaanxi. Its loud and loud tone appropriately expresses the people's support for the Central Red Army and the joy of revolutionary victory in the liberated areas of northern Shaanxi.
The ensemble version of "Ode to the Red Flag" performed by the Minhang District Youth Activity Center Orchestra depicts the scene of the five-star red flag rising on the founding ceremony, showing the revolutionary spirit of the Chinese people under the guidance of the red flag and the eulogize of the great prosperity of the motherland.
The Yanhe Incidental Music performed by the Folk Orchestra of Huangpu District Youth Art Activity Center led everyone into the traditional Chinese folk music such as Xintianyou, labor chant, and Northern Shaanxi folk song minor, with beautiful melody and great vigor, singing a song of Yan 'an spirit of The Times.
The ensemble "Red Journey" brought by the Changning District Children's Palace Orchestra is a national orchestra poem created to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Red Army's Long March. It integrates a number of red classic tunes, and the familiar national voice praises the positive, optimistic and courageous spirit of the Long March.
In the second half, the famous conductor and composer Qu Chunquan performed the concerto "Yellow River" (second and fourth movements) and "Thoughts on the Great Wall" (third and fourth movements) together with Erhu player Duan Quanai, dulcimer player Cao Yun and the Shanghai Student Chinese Orchestra. It is a great pleasure that Mr. Qu Chunquan, who conducted the premiere of the Erhu Concerto "Thoughts on the Great Wall" by the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra in 1982, also conducted his own adaptation of the dulcimer concerto "Yellow River". On the stage, conductors and performers joined hands with representatives of outstanding students from colleges, middle schools and primary schools to perform enthusiastically, and three generations of musicians passed on from generation to generation, showing a beautiful picture of the glorious history of the Chinese nation and demonstrating the profound feelings of the Chinese people who love their hometown and motherland.
Shanghai Students Folk Music Alliance was established in 2015, and since 2020, the Municipal Education Commission has established a new mechanism for Yangpu District Children's Palace and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics to jointly serve as the main unit of the dual alliance. So far, there are 134 municipal alliance units, covering 21 universities and 16 districts in the city. There are more than 200 schools in Shanghai folk Music Base, more than 1,000 schools that carry out folk music activities, and more than 90,000 teachers and students have been influenced and cultivated by excellent folk music.
