The flute is a fringe gas-sounding instrument of the Lisu nationality. Also known as Jue, Die Tu, Di Oma, Oli Oma, Dati Tulai. It is popular in Gongshan, Fugong, Bijiang, Lushui and other places in Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province.
The flute has a bright and high-pitched pronunciation, and is often used for solo entertainment or singing and dancing accompaniment. It is a popular folk instrument for Lisu children and unmarried girls.
On New Year's Day and festive occasions of collective singing and dancing, men play their buer (Lisu pipa) and squeak, while women play bamboo reeds, flute and xiuji, playing and dancing, enjoying themselves. Even all night long, happy to rest.
