On May 31, the Dragon Boat Festival-themed cultural event "Zongxiang Qin Yun, Talking about Zhangzhou" sponsored by the Foreign Affairs Office of Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province was held at the Longren Guqin Lake in the Nanshan Cultural and Ecological Park of Zhangzhou High-tech Zone.
The organizer invites foreign students in Zhang to play the guqin, make sachets, and taste zongzi, share their thoughts and feelings during their study abroad in Zhang, and lead them to experience the atmosphere of the Dragon Boat Festival and gain an in-depth understanding of the traditional folk culture of the Dragon Boat Festival.
At the event, the staff of Zhangzhou Foreign Affairs Office and foreign students recited the millennium classic "Li Sao" in both Chinese and English, which kicked off the Dragon Boat Festival theme event.
Guqin teacher Zou Xiaohui introduced the thousand-year history and cultural heritage of Chinese Guqin to the international students, explained the knowledge of Guqin music theory and basic fingering, and played the famous Guqin song "Three Layers of Yangguan". With the melodious sound of the qin, the international students are intoxicated by the melodious qin sound that has been passed down for thousands of years, and are impressed by the timeless artistic charm of the guqin culture. Everyone also learned how to play the guqin on the spot. Under the guidance of the guqin teacher, they carefully plucked the strings and played a song "Me and You", feeling the charm of the thousand-year-old guqin culture.
After learning the guqin, the host introduced the historical and cultural heritage of the Dragon Boat Festival and the connotation of traditional customs to the international students, and displayed the Dragon Boat Festival sachets. "Sachets made of traditional Chinese medicine and worn on clothes are a thousand-year-old custom of the Dragon Boat Festival, which has the meaning of exorcising evil spirits and avoiding plagues." The sachets are wrapped with spices and medicinal materials, carrying a sincere blessing and refreshing.
Daria, an international student from Russia, said: "I am very interested in Chinese culture. It is also the first time I played the Chinese guqin. It is very interesting for everyone to eat zongzi and communicate together. I am very happy to learn more about Chinese culture today."
