A few days ago, the Futian Huaqiang Cup Pipa Invitational Tournament was held at the Shenzhen Pipa Society. More than 240 contestants from all over the country gathered in Cambridge to showcase their skills and compete.
This competition is hosted by Shenzhen Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center and Shenzhen Pipa Association.
The competition is divided into eight categories: professional group, non-professional group, and non-professional ensemble group. In the preliminary round, the contestants mailed the video data without splicing and editing, and the judges reviewed the video to select the outstanding contestants from the 468 video data. There are more than 240 players and teams shortlisted for the rematch.
The jury invited domestic influential pipa performers, educators, experts and scholars to participate in the judging work, including the famous composer Zhu Xiaogu, contemporary pipa performers, Zhang Qiang, a professor of the Folk Music Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, Dong Nan, an associate professor of the China Conservatory of Music, and the Pudong School. Lin Jiaqing, the seventh-generation inheritor of the pipa art, Lin Changyin, the inheritor of the national musical instrument making skills and the director of the Pipa Professional Committee of the Shanghai Musicians Association, Huang Guanglin, a famous pipa performer and educator, and Luo Jieli, a pipa performer and educator, participated in a total of 22 expert judges. After two days of fierce competition, each group of gold, silver and bronze awards and outstanding performance awards were finally judged.
Huang Wenfei, from Zhanjiang, Guangdong, started learning pipa at the age of 6, and is currently a second-year high school student at the high school attached to the Xinghai Conservatory of Music, a music professional school. This time, accompanied by her mother, she made a special trip to Shenzhen to participate in the competition.
"When I was learning Pipa, I heard about a Pudong school very early on. I was able to participate in the competition this time and competed with many players from all over the country. I felt that I had gained a lot." Huang Wenfei said.
Shanghai Pudong Kangqiao is one of the birthplaces of the Chinese Pipa "Pudong School", which was included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection List in 2008. In the awards concert of this invitational competition, Lin Jiaqing played the duet of pipa and guzheng "Spring River, Flowers and Moon Night" as the finale program.
