In the Horqin area of eastern Inner Mongolia, there is such a story: a kind-hearted herdsman took a spoon to scoop water, and the spoon in his hand fell on the ground accidentally, making a nice sound, so he was inspired by it , and hollowed out the wood to make a chaoerqin. Since then, this kind of stringed instrument has spread in Mongolian grasslands and yurts.
