There is a popular legend about the birth of the first Liuqin.
According to legend, about two hundred years ago, when the two brothers, Wu Datuan and Wu Er Tuan, the ancestors of Lahunqiang, escaped from the desert and begged for food to live in a ruined temple, they saw that the Pipa King Kong among the Four Great Kings was very powerful, so they imitated King Kong. The pipa in his hand is a simple two-stringed pipa. While begging for food, he played it and sang a minor key from his hometown. Since then, this musical instrument and this singing form have gradually spread. This is the earliest birth of the liuqin. statement.
What the two brothers held in their hands was the prototype of the early liuqin, and the minor key they sang was the early melody of Lahunqiang. This simple form of singing while playing and singing gradually developed into a two-person tabletop singing form, and it appeared as a profession. There is a seven-degree jump in the drag tune of the closing sentence in their singing, so they are called "Lahouqiang", also known as "Lahunqiang". The main accompaniment instrument of Lahunqiang is the liuqin, commonly known as "Tu Pipa".
