On the evening of November 19, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra performed the poem "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" in Shanghai. Based on the Northern Song Dynasty painter Wang Ximeng's A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains, the works show the beauty of Chinese painting in a symphonic way. The six movements created by composer Zhao Lin present a musical picture that travels through time and space and is rich in the humanistic and philosophical thoughts of the Chinese nation.
With the sound of the poem "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" played, the "Symphony of The Times -- National Excellent Orchestra Invited Performance", co-sponsored by the Bureau of Literature and Art of the Central Publicity Department, the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Chinese Musicians Association and the Publicity Department of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, was inaugurated by the China Shanghai International Arts Festival Center. During the one-month performance, 11 orchestras from across the country will stage 22 wonderful concerts, including more than 40 excellent original works, focusing on the achievements made in the development of Chinese symphonies and ethnic orchestral music, and showing the new look and new achievements of Chinese artists in the new era and the new journey.
"A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" is not the only one. Many works brought by this exhibition are based on excellent traditional Chinese culture, rooted in rich soil, and tell Chinese stories well in the language of music.
Water sleeve, dexterous and changeable, is a unique performance form in traditional Chinese opera. Different sleeve movements can express different feelings such as anger, sorrow and joy. Inspired by this unique form of performance, Zhou Tian composed the cello concerto "Water Sleeve", showing the Chinese classical romance.
The Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra will present Metropolis, commissioned by the orchestra for its 65th anniversary. This work is inspired by the Tang Dynasty poet Huang Tao's "Guangzhou Test over the Platform of Nostalgia", composer Zhou Tian uses the language of symphonic music to describe a millennium city where prosperity and the city coexist, the old and the modern interwoven. Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra will stage the "West Lake" concert, composed by Ye Xiaogang, with the famous poems created by Chinese poets about Hangzhou for the content of the seven Que.
Suzhou National Orchestra, led by Peng Jiapeng, will present a concert of classic works of "Ode to Elegance" and a concert of folk symphony melodies "Ode to Rivers, Lakes and Seas". Shanghai Chinese Orchestra multimedia music live "Gardenia Bloom" will present the cross-boundary integration of music, painting, multimedia and other fields, showing the youth flavor and fashion texture of folk music.
Inheritance and innovation of intimate dialogue, tradition and modern collision spark, is a major feature of the exhibition works.
China Festival, an original folk music concert created by the China National Orchestra, takes each time node of the lunar calendar as the axis and uses traditional Chinese music to explain the connotation of the festival.
The Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra will perform "Beautiful Country" by Ye Xiaogang, a composer inspired by the historical changes in China's new rural construction. The composer uses Hangjia-hu Plain folk tones to express the changes in China's rural areas and the spiritual outlook of its people in the new era.
Guiyang Symphony Orchestra will bring a symphony concert of original Chinese works "West Fantasy". Hexi Corridor, the Fifth Symphony composed by Han Lankui, takes oasis, ecology and life as the breakthrough point to express the imprints left by Hexi Corridor in the historical changes. The Guzheng concerto "So" takes "feeling" as the line to explore the charm of guzheng and explore the modern expression of traditional culture.
The "Tribute to Master Peng Xiuwen's Works" large-scale national symphony concert of China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra will focus on the famous orchestral music composed and adapted by Peng Xiuwen, such as "Harvest Gongs and Drums" and "Qin · Terracotta Warriors", to pay tribute to a generation of folk music masters. The Music Is Hometown Ming concert performed by Lyu Jia and the National Center for the Performing Arts Orchestra will be staged in Shencheng on December 6. Among them, Far Crossing by Yao Chen will make its world premiere. The composer uses colorful band sounds to communicate and echo the art world of ancient words and symbols.
Heroes are the eternal motif of literary and artistic creation. On November 27, the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra will present the original folk music epic Hero. Based on fairy tales, the work uses folk music to interpret five myths and legends, namely Pangu's opening of heaven, Linglun's rule of law, Cang Jie's creation of characters, Dayu's control of water and Houyi's shooting of the sun, so that people can deeply feel the heroic spirit flowing in the blood of the nation.
On November 29, the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra will perform the commissioned work "China 1921" by composer Li Haiying under the baton of the permanent conductor Jing Huan, showing the magnificent journey of 100 years and the enduring aspiration of 100 years.
The great power of faith, throughout the show. The China National Symphony Orchestra's "Longsonhua Rhyme" symphony concert will present Songs of Life dedicated to the unsung heroes in the fight against COVID-19, Breaking Dawn and Sunrise in tribute to the centennial of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and passages from Pudong Symphony in praise of Pudong's reform, innovation and development. Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra will perform the large-scale symphony cycle "My Motherland" composed by Zhang Qianyi. The work will be performed by the symphony orchestra as the main body, integrating folk music elements and classic song melody, eulogizing the great motherland.
The organizer introduced that in the past ten years, the majority of musicians adhere to the Chinese cultural stance, firm cultural confidence, actively participate in the construction of socialist cultural power, and strive to promote music creation from the "plateau" to the "peak", and have achieved fruitful results. The 11 participating orchestras are seven orchestras, namely Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, National Center for the Performing Arts Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, China Symphony Orchestra and Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, and four Chinese orchestras, namely Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, China National Orchestra, China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra and Suzhou Chinese Orchestra.
