In today's society, the elderly have a colorful and distinctive life in their later years. Singing, dancing, painting, and calligraphy satisfy the interests and hobbies of different elderly people, giving them more choices. In this program, the old people we want to meet are lovers of matouqin performance. The matouqin music they play is melodious and beautiful, making people feel like they are in the grasslands and feel the infinite vastness from the music.
Matouqin is a kind of Mongolian folk stringed musical instrument. It is called "Chao'er" in Mongolian. According to legend, a shepherd used his leg bones as columns, skulls as tubes, tail hairs as bow strings, and made two-stringed qin in order to miss his pony. The shape of a pony is carved with a horse's head, which is installed on the top of the harp, hence the name. At the home of Tara, the president of the Huluge Matouqin Association in Kangbashi District, we also saw his Matouqin, more than 30 people. Years of study and company, Matouqin has also become an important part of his life.
Learning matouqin is a very hard and boring process. In order to get more professional training, at the age of 20, Tara devoted herself to studying with professional matouqin performer Si Qingtu. Since then, Tara has officially entered the door of matouqin art.
