Bai is a double-reed gas-sounding instrument of the Li nationality. It is also called Lilaruo in the Li language and bamboo suona in the Han nationality. Popular in Ledong, Dongfang, Changjiang and other places in Hainan Province. When playing, its posture and method are similar to suona. In terms of sound quality, the pronunciation of Bai is clear and soft, and the tone is melodious and sweet.

In the 1960s, the music reform group of the Central National Song and Dance Troupe, on the basis of the traditional worship of the Li nationality, reformed it into a plus-key worship.

The tube body is a conical tubular body, which is connected by several bamboo tubes and copper sleeves. The tube is 66 cm long, and the diameter of the lower end of the tube is 3 cm. There is no bell mouth. There are eleven sound-pressing holes in the middle of the pipe body, and the plus key is used to set the semitone to expand the sound range to more than two octaves.

When playing, the left hand is on the top, the thumb is on the back hole and also controls the highest sound hole, the other four fingers each press a note, and the right hand is on the bottom, all except the thumb are used to press the note. The performance skills maintain the traditional characteristics, and the expressiveness is more abundant. It can be used for solo, instrumental ensemble or as accompaniment for singing and dancing. It has been used in the national bands of the central and local professional song and dance troupes, and is often used as a colorful musical instrument to express the customs of the Li nationality.
